What attracts you to a book?
What makes you want to read a book? Is it the author, the cover, or a recommendation?

Re: What attracts you to a book?
For me it's the topic and a good recommendation. I tend to gravitate towards non fictional books or even fictional books focused on women's issues; particularly in other countries.Edited to ask how about you?

Re: What attracts you to a book?
I totally judge a book by it's cover. Of course I usually choose the worst books this way. I mostly go on reccomendations from trusted readers, authors I like or just browse the bookstore until I see something that sounds intersting. FH is also pretty good at picking out stuff I'll enjoy.

For me most books I usually get from lists/recommendations. I started to read books off of the Top 100 books of all time. I will check out Newsday and the NY Times for recommendations as well as People magazine. I have come across many a good book through People magazine. Also, word of mouth recommendations is huge, but I don't always count on that.
