Such a sad story....
I'm an autism professional, and this story made me so upset -Missing Autistic Boy's Body Found in Fla.
GREENACRES, Fla. (AP) - An 8-year-old autistic boy was found dead in a pond near from his home Friday, one day after police launched a search for the boy who a witness reported seeing kidnapped.
``We are still looking into the abduction angle,'' Greenacres Police Lt. Michael Porath said. But he said that because the boy was found only about 100 feet from his home, a kidnapping appears less likely.
An autopsy was planned Friday to determine the cause of death, Porath said. Authorities said Jared McGuire had severe autism and took medication.
Jared's mother told authorities she had last seen him sleeping on the couch Thursday afternoon. Police scoured the area with officers, dogs and a helicopter before the body was spotted Friday.
Greenacres is 8 miles south of West Palm Beach.

Well - I am not going to say that he definitely wasn't kidnapped, but kids with autism need to be watched at all times because they do wander, and just don't have any sense of danger - I could easily see him playing near or in the pond, and hitting a deep patch...

yes - I know what you are saying. I guess I just feel like there was foul play involved.

Re: Such a sad story....
At our engagement party my FH's cousin, who is autistic, wandered off. After frantic searching he was found on the crowded beach at the water's edge. I can't help but wonder what would have happened if he wanted to go in the water. His parents don't watch him at all. They think if others are around that they'll watch their kids.
It's so sad.
