Bridal Shower Thank You Cards (w/Poll)

I honestly don't have the time and the energy to hand-write thank you's for my bridal shower, but I also don't want to be condemned to hell if I don't.

Would it be okay to personalize each thank you, but have it printed on the computer with a cute font?

TIA.

Re: Bridal Shower Thank You Cards (w/Poll)

I think everyone appreciates a handwritten/personalized thank you. I know i do..

Take your time with them, this way they come out as nice as you want.

try and do 5 a day and go from there.

how was your shower by the way??

Re: Bridal Shower Thank You Cards (w/Poll)

Personally, I wouldn't do it. Too impersonal. My life was absolutely crazy around the time of my shower/wedding (which were only a month apart). Between running back and forth from Long Island to finalize wedding plans, moving into our new house and crazy work schedule, I still managed to write out my cards.

My sister put so much effort into my shower and many of my friends really went out of their way to be there, the least I could do was handwrite a thank you.

Re: Bridal Shower Thank You Cards (w/Poll)

My shower was this past Saturday. I brought thank you cards from walmart, that were blank on the inside and wrote personalized messages to each guest. i think that they will like the fact that i took the time out to address each of them seperately

How many did you have to write, and how long did it take?

I'm looking at about 55+ cards.

Re: Bridal Shower Thank You Cards (w/Poll)

chris, i have to agree, i think it is nice to receive a hand written TY...Like someone just said, just do a few a day and they will be done in a week.

I did mine while watching tv at night for my e-gifts and it went quick.. i also did 2-3 sentences on each and kept it short and sweet..something like this...

to xyz

Thank you so much for your thoughtful shower gift. We love the toaster and will think of you when we use it. OR We love the toaster and appreciate your generosity.

or if they came, write thank you for sharing in my special day...etc...

love,
Xyz

Ultimately it is your decision, i don't think anyone would care either way.

I think you have to do a personalized, handwritten note - anything else is in bad taste, imo.

Re: Bridal Shower Thank You Cards (w/Poll)

Christine
dont go too nuts with these
buy thank yous at Hallmark and then write the thank you and include the gift in your thank you. You dont need to write a novel for shower thank yous. People know its your crunch time now.

Ironically, I get very angry when wedding thank yous are generic.

Re: Bridal Shower Thank You Cards (w/Poll)

how about this Chris,

I ATTENDED your shower and gave you a gift (hope you like it )

I know how grateful you are and so do the other wonderful ladies that attended. either rubber stamped or handwritten in blood, I know how much you appreciate things (and those that know you better know that more than I do)

do whatever is easiest for you my darling! I don't think people give gifts with the idea of stressing you out in order to thank us.

what say you Hollie? can we give this kid a break or what?

This is exactly what I needed to hear. March is the busiest time of the year for us at work, and I honestly lack the energy to sit and write out 50+ cards.

Thank you so much for your honesty and REAL feedback. Considering those who attended aren't etiquette #hores (except maybe for Alaina) - won't know the difference.

Alaina is also your MOH....I think for your BP you could do something 'special' for them...especially for that Faberge Egg and earrings...

Re: Bridal Shower Thank You Cards (w/Poll)

When my mom ordered my invites, she ordered Thank you's to match with a message inside and I also wrote a generic/personalized messsage on the blank side of the card.

I say generic/personalized messsage, because it was sorta a little of both. It was something like: 'Thank you for [fill-in-the-blank] and for sharing this special day with me.' Its a little personalized

Re: Bridal Shower Thank You Cards (w/Poll)

I would do the computerized personalized card and make a small handwritten note, a few words. I don't think that's to0 impersonal JMO.

Re: Bridal Shower Thank You Cards (w/Poll)

i really would write them out.... even a small sentence that says thanks for the present. people like to see handwriting.

i had to do about 100 and i got them done in a couple of days...you get the hang to it.

Re: Bridal Shower Thank You Cards (w/Poll)

I have seen, the person who threw the shower, went out and bought the thank you cards, and handed one to every person who came, They then wrote there address on the envelope, and the thank you's were collected again. That little step saves SOOOO much time when it comes to writing thank you's. Then personalizing them will be easy, a cute simple statement recognizing there gift.

if people care enough to attend your shower and were generous enough to buy you a gift, they should be thanked with a personalized note.

I agree. I wrote out 73 engagement party thank yous in 2 days. It goes really quickly once you get the hang of it. My family gets very offended when there's no personalized note - whether its a shower TY, e-party, even 'thank you for your sympathies' after a wake or funeral.
