What time does your ceremony and cocktail hour start?

It looks like my reception will be at 4:30pm and my cocktail hour starts at 730pm. I feel like this is too long of a gap even though we have to take pictures.

Re: What time does your ceremony and cocktail hour start?

Church - 1 (about an hour long)
Cocktail Hour 4:30-6
Reception: 6-10

I'm most likely offering shuttle service from the hotel to the reception. My reception site has a bar in their restaurant, plus they have a lounge for guests to sit and relax in where they will serve champagne before the cocktail hour.

Some guests will also go back to the hotel to freshen up (or change) after the church. We most likely will be providing shuttle service from the hotel to the reception site. We would ask the shuttles to leave at about 3:40, so that the guests would get to the reception by 4:15.

Re: What time does your ceremony and cocktail hour start?

My ceremony starts at 2:30
cocktail hour starts at 6:30
reception starts at 7:30 til 11:30

I was having anxiety this weekend thinking that i should have started the cocktail hour at 6 since it is a sunday wedding and i want there to be some sunlight for people to enjoy the outdoors. But the church and the catering hall are 40 minutes to an hour away, and i wanted lots of time to take pics...
these decisions are killing me!

Re: What time does your ceremony and cocktail hour start?

Ceremony 4:30
CH 5-6
Reception 6-10

There is no break in between thus the reason we are taking pics before hand and for half of the CH.

My ceremony started at 12:30 and cocktail hour was at 1. I liked the fact there wasn't a gap of time.

Re: What time does your ceremony and cocktail hour start?

2:30 pm mass

and then 6:30 cocktail hour

I was worried at first also, but both parents are going to have people over their house if people need something to do in between....
also, this leaves us enough time for pictures.
