Any one a Vet by chance? a little TMI - UPDATED

My mom's cat is not using her litterbox to poop anymore. About 2 weeks ago the cat got diarrhea and went under the bed. Then she noticed that she didn't poop at all (most likely she was constipated). She's finally going again but not in her box. Usually under a bed or outside the box. What can she do? TIA!

Update: So the Vet said it was just a virus and gave her antibiotics. If it doesn't stop then she has to take her back. So far not too serious

Re: Any one a Vet by chance? a little TMI

My cat did that for a while when he was very sick. When they are having stomach problems, they associate the litter box with pain, and try to go in other places to make it less painful. My cat had stomach tumors and died. I'd get it checked out. Good luck!

Definitely take her to the vet - I noticed last year that my cat hadn't used the litter box in DAYS and she had stomach problems and a UTI when we took her.

Re: Any one a Vet by chance? a little TMI

Is your cat old? I hate to agree with the rest here, but my cat was going all over the place and the doctor said that he was majorly dehydrated and that that was a sign of kidney failure. He was about 19 years old though - my parents had to put him down.

Good luck!

Re: Any one a Vet by chance? a little TMI

My cat did this when she had cancer - she just couldn't make it to the litterbox so she would just go in the nearest corner We moved the litterbox near her favorite spot, but she still had problems. Definitely take her to the vet - it could be something serious (or it could just be a treatable infection)

My cat goes outside the box all the time...it's not medical-he just needs Kitty Prozac..purely behavioral.
