Really weird Registry Question....

Did anyone have gifts bought off their registry but didn't receive them?

There are three/four items on my registry that I can't account for. I didn't receive them at the shower, no one's spoken of them, and what other time would anyone give you a gift like that?

They're not expensive gifts, each under $30, but I'm just curious to know if there's any way of finding out who they're from or who bought them off the registry....

Re: Really weird Registry Question....

this never happened to me personally....but why dont you call the place where the registry is and tell them you are worried that you didnt receive them yet and see if they can tell you who purchased them.

Re: Really weird Registry Question....

Maybe they'll be given to you at your wedding? Or maybe they were purchased and then changed their mind and didnt ask that the items be put back on the registry.

Re: Really weird Registry Question....

That is really weird. Definitely see if you can get a list of who bought what from the store. I suppose maybe some people bought things and haven't had a chance to send them to you? Or they bought them to be wedding gifts instead of for the shower?

We're registered at BB&B, and they could only tell us what date, and at what location (or internet) the item was purchased...

I just hate waiting around for these items b/c they're mucho importante and I don't want to go and end up buying them again b/c we need them soon...

Re: Really weird Registry Question....

You should call the store. I did this with both of my registries (Fortunoff and Michael C Fina) for gifts where the card was misplaced or things that were being shipped that took a while to come.

Re: Really weird Registry Question....

Sometimes people purchase items for themself along with registry gifts, and they get scanned as if they were on your registry. This happened to my friend.

Re: Really weird Registry Question....

I will actually admit that I have done this before to a friend of mine...

I bought bathroom stuff off a registry, but felt that it wasn't 'enough' for the amount of money I could afford. So, I decided to buy another gift with a friend so we could get something bigger, and didn't return it for months later. The funny thing was that in conversation she told me that her bathroom set was 'bought' but she never got it from anyone, and I felt awful about it.

Yes, and they were given to us at the wedding.

I have to say though that you registered for wedding gifts, and that you shouldn't expect to get them prior to the wedding because you need to have them soon. I think that is actually pretty rude to expect that you will get your gifts to use before your wedding. It's up to your guests to decide when to give you your wedding gifts, whether it be before your wedding or after.

Ummmm...you TOTALLY misunderstood my question. It has nothing to do with EXPECTING gifts. I want to know whether or not I can track who bought something off the registry b/c of the following reasons:
1) I misplaced the whole gift and card
2) It was bought by ACCIDENT off my registry and I don't want any duplicates

I know every single person that was invited to my shower, and no other guest knows where we're registered. I have spoken to every single one of the guests that was invited to the shower and those that couldn't make it already told me what they did get or didn't get.

ETA: We did not register for wedding gifts - like formal china, etc...on our registry, we registered for things like pillows, pots, and such. I seriously DOUBT that someone bought a VACUUM to give us at our WEDDING.

Re: Really weird Registry Question....

We had gifts that we thought would be sent to us before the wedding, like the luggage, but nope, people came with it to the wedding. We had to return the stuff that was purchased as gifts b/c we had to go out and buy our luggage 2 days before we were getting married. When the person handed me the luggage (huge, and I am in my wedding dress) I said thanks, but when they asked if we were going to use it on our HM, I was honest and said no b/c we were leaving right from the wedding and had to buy the same luggage and had already packed. They were upset with me and said something to my mom, like why not take their gift with us, and return the ones we already had packed and taken the tags off of. My mom came to our denfense, but still, if you you get the couple luggage, I would send it before the wedding. We waited to use every gift after the wedding - except the vaccuume since the person who gave it to us wanted to try it out themselves.

Was there anyone who couldn't make your shower that possibly got you a gift and will give them to you some other time?

If it was a Dyson or a big ticket vac, that could totally be a wedding present and get brought to the wedding., It was a PIA for my parents to bring the big gifts (like luggage) home from the wedding. But some people just don't think about those things and will drag it to the wedding.

There were only three or four that couldn't make it. They've already sent a gift or told me exactly what they got.

It's just three items off the registry, all under $30 - like the Oxo Kitchen Utensil Caddy for $19, Expandable Kitchen Utensil Holder for $9, and a handheld vacuum for $14....

No, unfortunately they're small items, nothing large like that.

By the way, thanks for sharing your story about the luggage - I can only imagine someone expecting you to unpack your items right then and there to use the luggage they gave you.

Perhaps then it should have been worded differently.... you shouldn't have said, it was something you needed soon..... Don't underestimate what people will and will not bring to the wedding. You'd be surprised.

In any event, there were quite a few big ticket items on my registry that were never sent to us for the following reasons:

#1 - It was brought directly to the wedding
#2 - My office threw me a shower and bought me quite a big ticket item. - Could be the case here as well.

As far as the smaller items that have been brought and you haven't received.... again, they could have been bought to be given to you at the wedding too.

You also shouldn't assume that your other guests don't know where you are registered. It gets around word of mouth. I was surprised that certain people knew about my registry.

I apologize if you MISREAD my original post. I clearly stated that they were SMALL items, not totaling more than $30.

Thanks for your information anyway.
