Pre Cana Question
Hi everyone!!I have a question for anyone who has done or is doing Pre Cana...
Long story really really short - I'm Catholic, FI is Methodist and we are getting married in my church which requires Pre Cana. The Pre Cana program at my church is super intense. They told me that I can probably find another parish that does Pre Cana differently... like less days.
I wanted to know if any of you girls have/had a Pre Cana program that was for one full day only - or two or three days max. FI isn't really down for the whole Pre Cana and I wanted to make it as quick as possible.
THANKS IN ADVANCE!

Re: Pre Cana Question
If you call the diocese they can give you different options. I am doing every monday night 7:30 - 9:30pm for six weeks at my church...and the only other options I know of are 2 full days (sat & sun) or a weekend retreat where you stay overnight.Good luck!!

Re: Pre Cana Question
I am doing 2 visits with the priest for 2-3 hours. We had a choice to do that or do the weekend retreat or two 8 hour days or twice a week for 3 weeks, so you can see why we choose the 2 visits for 2-3 hours.

Re: Pre Cana Question
try this site: www.pre-cana.orgits the official pre-cana site for the Catholic Church. We did ours 2 months ago, and it wasn't bad. 2 hours on Friday and all day saturday and sunday. It wasn't as bad as i thought it would be. The couple was really nice and funny as hell. it was a big group. I have to actually admit it was kind of helpful, although I thought it would be cheesy.

Re: Pre Cana Question
We did an 'Encounter Weekend.' It was an overnight retreat and less painful than visiting paritioners in their homes for 1 night a week for 6 weeks.

Re: Pre Cana Question
We did ours in 5 sessions. The first and last session were under an hour and the middle three sessions we about an hour and half. We were other couples in a married couple's house. It was fine- nothing to worry about.

Re: Pre Cana Question
Long Beach- worth the trip- St. Mary the Isle Parish- 315 East Walnut Street (half day)We started at 9 and were done by 3. Phone Number is 516-432-0157 or 432-1320. We had a deacon and he was great!!! He does all the pre-cana and he is sweet and it is relaxed atmosphere. We talked a little and then we got to go to a real wedding ceremony and see that which was nice, then we ate pizza talked a little more and went home.
