How is the food....

at the Lessings locations?
I have been reading about so many brides who didn't eat the day of their wedding...but that their guests said the food was really good. I am looking for some advice in the cuisine department. I want to be more focused on providing my guests with good food.

West Sayville CC and Smithtown Landing seem to the the places I am leaning towards. (Is there a place I am overlooking?)

Been to a wedding at Smithtown landing and thought the food was very good. Particularly the cocktail hr food!

Land's End is Lessings too... I think.

My cousin had her wedding there... The food was great. The CH was to die for too! SOOOO much food!

Land's End is Lessings too... I think.

My cousin had her wedding there... The food was great. The CH was to die for too! SOOOO much food!

Land's End used to be Lessings a few years ago. Now it is Lovin Oven.

I had an appt with them this past Sat but I had to cancel...I couldn't make it up to long island.

But i'm getting more and more curious of that place.

we use lessing's at a lot of my work functions, including our annual ball at the bourne mansion and the food is good!

I think Lessings owns The POst Office Cafe in Babylon. The food there is great.

oh great...this is very good to know. Sometimes you think with some all inclusive places...that they've got to be cutting corners somewhere. I understand that the food can't be perfect especially when it is going to made for over 100 people...but I would love for my guests to enjoy what they are eating.

IMHO, you should ask for a food tasting before making a decision to book any catering hall. I look at it this way . . . if I was buying a car I would take it for a test drive, before spending $$$$ per person, I want to taste the food. I personally do not like Lessings food at all, but from reading the other posts, this opinion stands alone.

Be careful-Lessing's is not really all inclusive. They usually include flowers, but the packages are basic and you have to pay for upgrades. They don't include DJ, Photo's, invitations, etc.

That said-they are very reasonably priced and I love most of their facilities. But I am biased, I worked for them for years as did my grandmother. The only reason I am not having my reception at one of their places is because I really wanted it on the water, and they don't have a facility really close to the water (except the Riverview and they only offered Saturday afternoon weddings). I had my wedding at West Sayville and my guests were raving about the food. My family is Italian and food is sooooo important. They loved it. I loved it!!

My wedding was at the Bourne and I thought the food was really good, but to be perfectly honest I did not think it was good as it was when we went to the tasting.

The cocktail was huge and that food was really yummy esp the chicken quesidillas. I thought the entrees were just ok, but better than at most halls I have been to. At the wedding they brought DH and I all the entrees to try. My favorite was the chicken dish that was wrapped in a pastry, right now I can't remember what exactly it was called.
