Block rooms at Garden City Hotel or Wingate Inn

Has anyone blocked off any rooms for your wedding guests at the Garden city Hotel or Wingate Inn? If so how many did you need to block off? What were the requirements? Did you get a good rate? If you dont mind saying, How much? (I have never been to either hotel, are they nice, I heard Garden City is like a 4 star hotel) Any help would be great thanks!!

I have booked a block of 10 rooms at the Wingate for my fall wedding. The woman I dealt with was very nice and helpful. They gave us a price of $149.00 per room. There really aren't any budget hotels on L.I. so we wanted to offer this as a less expensive alternative to the Roslyn Claremont, where we also have a block of rooms saved. My brother used the Wingate for guests of his wedding last year and they were very pleased with the service they received. Good luck.

Wingate Inn

I had 10 rooms blocked off at the wingate. The rate was some where b/w 140 and 149. I don't remember exactly. I saw the rooms - they were very nice. There are a few different size suites. I wish they would block more then 10 rooms for me but they said they can't until I fill them. Also, they don't have that many double rooms so if you think that you will have couples sharing then try to request as many as possible in the block. I do think that the prices were better than Garden City Hotel and I also know that the Howard Johnsons is 140 also and the wingate is 10 times better than that! Good Luck!
