How did you ask your Bridesmaids?

I wanted to have a formal/fun brunch for my 6 ladies and give them little gift packages I made along with 'Will you be my Bridesmaid' cards. I've actually blurted it out to all of them, but I thought a brunch would make it more formal and give some of my college friends and childhood friends a chance to hang out. Just wondering how you girls did it....

I was thinking the same thing, but what we're actullay going to do is, have a dinner (me w/ the girls / fh w/ the guys) formally ask them, give them their cards & their token gifts (GM will get a polo shirt w/ our logo & date tiny indiscretly, no larger than a brooks bros. symbol) (Bm are getting tote bags & Tanks w/ their titles on it) Everyone is getting a newlestter, w/ everyone's contact info, key dates (e-party, rehersal dinner) day before event) wedding , day after brunch), dates, etc. some of the details, dresses & dress shopping dates....
then we would all take a car service & go out & celebrate (dancing, I hope most likly a lounge,in the city)

i did a poem in a friendship card for my one moh but i feel bad cause i wasnt too orignal with the rest of the party..i'm going to make it up them though at our rehearsal dinner by doing something really nice for each of them

Hi ~ I am still in the process of asking mine...What I am doing is I am making each one a card with a special poem for each one...I have one for MOH, Bridesmaids, plus I am giving them a scrapbook with a pic of me & FH on the front of the book ~ (it is a pic of the first summer we started dating) ring bearer, (gave him him a Limo matchbox car w/card) flower girls...(I found little dolls that are little flower girls + a big toy flower)

So far the girls that I have asked LOVED it...they all got teary eyed (one of my Bridesmaids re read the card when she got home and told me she really started to cry) I was very pleased with how they came out...

My MOH I took to dinner and made a toast to our friendship and asked her that way. (She cried her eyes out at the table)

My other BM's I did individually by either taking them to dinner or 2 of them just was a given and just started talking about what color dress they were going to wear.

I will be making a scrapbook page and framing it for all of the bridesmaids - of course including 'will you be my bridesmaid' on the page. I made one of these for FH for our anniversary and it came out really well!

My E-party is next Sunday and I made them cards with a poem in it. It was my first DIY project. I have never made anything. I put a poem inside the card and I will give it to them there.

I will post a pic when they are complete.

I ordered really cute 'Will u be my Bridesmaid' cards from isadoraink.com and then bought Bridesmaid tanks from djchic.com and I'm gonna put everything in lil pink giftbags and hand them out to my girls when I see them.

I asked each one individually in person - except for 2 when we went to dinner one night. They all know each other, but it's nearly impossibly to get them all together (3 in NJ, 1 in CT, 1 in VA and 1 in MA). They wouldn't really be into the poems, so I just waited until I had a chance to see them. It's funny because it was almost uncomfortable, like I was asking them on a date or something It was just a simple 'I would like you to be part of my bridal party.' I think they all knew already that I was going to ask them anyway.

lol, reading all of these nice ways of asking are making me feel really bad b/c i just asked each one of them... i didn't give them anything and no poem just kinda sat them all down individually and said that i would really like them to be involved and that they are important to me and that was it... now i feel bad!!! well, i'll make it up to them with their gift i guessi did host a cocktail party for my BP so they could meet each other-- and i wrote them thank you cards for coming to that and explained how happy i was that they were my BMs.
