Self-proclaimed cheapest bride on LIweddings.com
As I read all of these posts about budgets, tipping, flowers, etc. I feel like I am in the minority when it comes to penny pinching.I haggled with my RH until I got a price and minimum I wanted, I haggled with the hotel for the OOT guests to get a good rate, I plan on using stop & shop for my flowers, etc.
Am I the only one that is euphoric when I get a good deal for a good vendor? I want my day to be beautiful, of course, but I want to cut costs as much as possible.
Just needed to put that out there..

Edit: I just realized this post makes me sound like Im bragging! Really Im reaching out for a little help! :) Sometimes I get a little psycho thinking about the bottom line and was wondering if anyone else out there is THIS bad?? I havent booked a photog yet because my spreadsheet of $$ figures is too overwhelming. YIKES!
-Can you tell that Im an Economist?

Re: Self-proclaimed cheapest bride on LIweddings.com
Ola DATE TWIN!I think Whole Foods has nice flowers and may be better than Stop & Shop
We're staying on budget so far and it's definitely doing research and knowing exactly what we want and allocating the money where it's most important to us.
I am also very happy when I find a deal or when I can find a way to make it cheaper.
Cheers!

Re: Self-proclaimed cheapest bride on LIweddings.com
And I wish I wasn' t such a cheapskate because I wouldn't be stressing as much.. Everyone stresses about getting a good vendor, but I won't sleep for like a week if I think I overpaid....Not good!

You shouldn't be worried!! They WANT your business!! BELIEVE Me! :)Alot of the time you might be able to tell if they aren't going to budge, but if they show even a hint of hesitation, pounce!!

Ok.... I can see haggling a few prices as far as RH and photography, but flowers from Stop and shop? Come on girl!!!!! This is the biggest day of your life!!! I save money when there a sale on shoes, clothes etc. As for my wedding, well I just have to spend
Hope all works out though. Good Luck

Re: Self-proclaimed cheapest bride on LIweddings.com
oh don't worry I am right there w/ you. When I told my friends what I got my hall for they nearly fell over - couldn't believe what I am getting for the cost. As for flowers I am going total budget - we aren't doing Limo's ect... plus I haven't rushed into booking my vendors. I want to hear all the facts. The only vendor I booked right away was Vinny from High Voltage cuz I already was convinced he was the best!

Oh I'll give ya a run for your money!I'm a CHEAPASS too!!!!!
I haggle EVERYTHING.
In fact, when I was done haggling with/booking the reception hall, the banquet manager asked me if I wanted him to throw in his desk for free, too!
My response? 'Oh, I'd love the desk, but we only have the small car today. Could you possible arrange shipping?!?!?'
You go, girl!

I am pretty thrifty also.
got a great deal at West Sayville Country Club $108 a person.. everything included, tip, tax, cake, flower centerpieces, alcholI am taking the credit for the centerpieces and making my own and getting flowers either via Stop n shop ( they have good flowers) or a place that sells them wholesale I heard flowers by chaz is a good whole sale flower place in bay shore..
I plan on making my own invitations..
my dress was $375, i am doing my own makeup.. i have a friend doing my hair, my shoes cost me $14 and they are comfy
my wedding photographer is $1200 for 6 hours and I get two photographers !!
and my dj is $1495...for 7 hours includes all bells and whistles
no limo needed since I am getting married on the site..
I also feel great when I get good deals :)

Personally, I'm jealous of you. That is awesome how you have haggled everyone down. I wish I could do it, but I just don't have it in me.

Re: Self-proclaimed cheapest bride on LIweddings.com
I wish I could be more like you, but i can't I work in sales, and I hate when people try to work themselves a deal. ( ok I work in a museum gift shop but still you will be suprised) So sometimes I feel like I don't want to be one of those people. But good for you cause I keep trying to come up with DIY projects to help lower the cost for the wedding.

Re: Self-proclaimed cheapest bride on LIweddings.com
omg we are so cheap too! it's just that these things are SOO expensive. i can't commit to saying yes to someone unless i know they're really offering me the best price they can. i guess that's another reason for our slowness in booking.

I try to haggle, because I love getting a good deal, but FH likes to spend. (He wants to put 2 bottles of Moet on every table!) And while I have expensive taste, I'm too practical to indulge every wish!Good luck on getting the deals girls!
