ATTN girls who DIY invites!!!

OK, so- I have officially given up on being too creative.
I now want to buy pre cut to size paper, and print myself.
How hard is this?
I am spastic with computer programs, mind you!
ALSO, I only have Microsoft Works word processor on my home PC, will that differ hugely from Word?

I wanted to just order them from Birchcraft, but they wont do right justified with a different font for the name...
Any help or reassurance will be appreciated
TIA!
-Lauren

ETA- This includes printing right onto small response cards, pre cut...
TIA!

Re: ATTN girls who DIY invites!!!

hmm, printing on small pre-cut response cards can be tricky! They can get easily lost in your printer.

I don't know much about MS Works, but I think you have less options etc. with it.

hey, how much were going to pay Birchcraft?

eta - maybe we can find a place to do them for the same (or less).

Re: ATTN girls who DIY invites!!!

Birchcraft was crazy cheap- I think maybe like less than $100.00 for 150 invites, lined envelopes, response cards, and printed return address cards. But I like the whole 2 font right justified thing...
I could see about maybe printing the response cards several to a page, and getting them cut at Kinkos...

What about maybe about getting paper from paper-source.com, and envelopes too, and cutting the response cards?
And where did you get your labels?

Re: ATTN girls who DIY invites!!!

wow that is cheap! Sheesh.

well, as for the text I would be happy to help you with laying out the invites, etc. Let me know if you need it.

did you buy pre-cut response cards already? If you are printing them yourself I would go with uncut card stock and then cut and score them yourself. That is if you don't want them hand written. You can get a paper cutter/scorer for like $8 at AC Moore.

I love all the paper-source stuff, they do sell pre-cut placecards... it just would be tricky like I said to print on them. Do a test run. Cut a scrap of card stock to size and see what you get.

For the STDs I used regular old Avery labels from Staples.

I agree with all of the above. It's pretty easy. Use test paper. Once you get it right, it's right. The response cards can be tricky. it depends on the feed on your printer and how small they are. test it out

Avery makes a large variety of labels, but I find it's almost as easier and looks a lot nicer to print right on the envelope

Re: ATTN girls who DIY invites!!!

OK, so my math sux-
It would be almost $200 form Biurchcraft.
So, if I order all the paper form paper-source-
say-
5x7 for the invite
A9s, to make 2 per sheet of reception cards or direction cards, or accomodation cards- eek.
then A7 envelopes and 4 bar envelope, it comes to about...
the same.
I am so lazy, it's bad.

could you print the only the invites yourself and have Birchcraft do everything else?

I got all my pre-cut cardstock from invitesbyyou.com and my envelopes from invitationoutlet.com. I did not want to have to cut everything myself!!!

This is an interesting idea...
I think, if I can figure out how to format MS Works, to get 2 RSVPs from 1 5x7 sheet, then I will do this myself.
Wish me luck tonight, I have a 10 minute patience span for computers at home.

Re: ATTN girls who DIY invites!!!

i did everything on microsoft works. the only problem i had with it is allowing me to customize the size of my envelopes. everthing else came out fine. the biggest difference to me with works and word is that you seem to have to do more fiddling with works.
