Is it okay to book videographer on word of mouth???
I received a quote from Wild Rose for ceremony, cocktail hour and reception, one camera, three VHS copies and one DVD copy for $1,799. My sister offered to help pay for the video (she's so cute!) so this is definitely somthing I can afford. However, any tape I would look at would be their best stuff. I am not sure I want to bother. I have heard such great things about them on this board, and Marie has been so helpful, that my gut is telling me to just book without meeting with them to get it out of the way. I am planning out of state and I think this is one thing I can deal with without a trip home. What do you guys think? Becky

Videography is different from one company to the next. Each studio i looked at, had a different look to it. maybe you wold call it a style. I wouild not book a videographer without meeting the people and seeing the video first hand.

Go for it! I'm also a long distance planner, so I can relate. I booked my video guy without meeting with them. I saw a tape and booked. Go with your gut, they have great recommendations!

Becky, As many of the girls on the board know I am a huge fan of Wild Rose. I looked at 7 before meeting them and deciding to work with them. Sweet30 is correct that there is a bit style difference between most of the companies. If you want an elegant, not full of cartoons type video Wild Rose is great. Some companies add a lot of strobe light type effects and cartoon things to their videos. I didn't want that at all. The keep the video very classic. But some girls are looking for a different style. What do you want in your video? e-mail me at [email protected] if you want more help with the decision. I will say that of all my vendors Wild Rose is the vendor I never worry about and they are super helpful. If you are comfortable with them on the phone I say book it. On your next trip home go over and meet with them. You will be happy with the decision.

Can they send you a few tapes?
They may be willing, and that could give you some peace of mind. As you mention, what they show would be their best stuff, but I can say from my own experience visiting video places -- sometimes the best is something you wouldn't like! On the other hand, I have only heard good things about Wild Rose, so I'm sure you wouldn't regret your decision!

I planned from Out of State. I got my video guy one week before the wedding. Somehow that detail got over looked.(Don`t ask) I emailed every videographer on this board three weeks before the wedding asked them to send me a demo if they were available for my wedding. I picked out 2 styles I liked, called and spoke with them. Just from one conversation, I knew which company was right for me. So ask for a demo, if you like the style then it sounds like you`ve got yourself a videographer. I dealt with several popular video companies on this board. And while there work appeared top notch they all did not evoke the feeling I wanted to capture my memeories. So I highly stress ask for the demo. It wont hurt just to look and then you can be sure you made the right decision for you.Welcome New Vendors
