Old Married Lady Here To Say....
IT STINKS HAVING TO CHANGE YOUR NAME....BOYS DON'T HAVE TO DO ANYTHINGThere is SO much to change. You have to do your passport, your license, your credit cards, etc. etc.
I've told my DH that he has to buy me a present, preferably something Monogrammed to make up for my inconvienece.
Thank You. Vent Over

Yeah I am dreading that. I like your present idea though - I'm SO gonna use that. ALthough my new initials will be SMP (PMS backwards - which FH thinks is hysterical!)

I feel the same way. DMV and social security were a breeze. Calling all of my credit card and utility companies, now that is another story. I am taking care of this little by littleOh, and you just reminded me, I need to get my new passport. It is free to change your last name if you do it within one year of the original issuance

Sure they have to do stuff. Mine has to:
1) Buy me BON-BONS when I am sitting on my arse when I get prego.
2) Buy me jewelry when he screws up
3) Buy me a new car because my old one is ugly and has a dent on the hood because some delinquent with a huge butt sat on it.
4) Buy me MORE jewelry for NO reason.
Changing my name was (and still is until my employer changes my name officially) irritating but doesnt really get in my way.

guess what, it's free since you just got it.
i was annoyed too since we didn't even need it on our cruise...but i want to get it changed before the summer! you need to send them your original marriage certificate (so I just ordered extra copies) and they'll change it free within a year of getting it. and you need two 2 by 2 photos.

Re: Old Married Lady Here To Say....
Question, the two things I have left to change are my license and passport. Do they take your old license and passport when you make the name change? I have plane tickets for Memorial Day under my old name, and don't want to have a huge hassle at the airport because I've changed my name.TIA

Your ID needs to match your travel tickets. And it has to be valid ID. If you change your license now, they will punch a hole in the old one showing it's no longer valid.
I would hold off making that change until after you travel to avoid the hassle.

yes, you send it in and they usually take your license (NJ took my NY one, so I'm not 100% sure).
I guess it may just be easier for your to change those two things in June.
