If feeding band, do you also tip?

My caterer charges half price for feeding the band, but this is still a considerable amount with a 7 piece band. Do you tip them on top of that? Alternatively, would it be rude not to feed them and just give them a tip?

Atria, Not sure about the answer to your question. However, my hall suggested that I check with all of my vendors to see if they want to eat before shelling out the cash for their dinners. Apparently sometimes bands, djs and videographers choose not to eat at the wedding, especially if any of them had an earlier job and already ate. Maybe some (or all!) of the seven people wont want to be fed at all. Wouldn't that make your life easier!!! Becky

Atria, I'm in the same position, except I know that feeding them has to be part of the deal. I haven't decided whether we're going to tip them, too.

I hired my band directly, no middleman, so I don't plan on tipping, but I am feeding all 7 members (which will still cost me close to $60 each person) I think this is a very personal decision and $$ plays a bit part. If you can tip a few bucks then go ahead.
