photographer problem (kinda long)

ever since we booked our photographer and they took our $$, their customer service has gone down hill. They lied to us about the videographer we wanted to use being booked, when I know for a fact he wasn't. Now when I call to make an appt to meet with the photo & video they are very unflexible in their times. They each have 1 night they work late and it is not the same night. FH works late every night except 1, which doesn't coincide with theirs, so now we have to take a day off to meet with them. When I questioned them, I was told there was nothing they could do. Aren't they supposed to be in a customer service business? I am so upset by their lack of professionalism, I don't know what to do. Does anyone know if I can break my contract with them if I forfeit my deposit? Also, with 6 weeks to go before the wedding, what are the chances of finding another photographer??
I am so upset, and it kills me to give them my money when they are treating us this way.

Re: photographer problem (kinda long)

Your written contract should say what you are responsible for financially if you break the contract. That is the only place to go for answers to that question.

As for finding someone new - post on the vendor board and see if someone else is available for you date. I recommend putting the date is the subject line of your post.

Re: photographer problem (kinda long)

In my opinion, I would not stand for a vendor that was being shady and unprofessional. I would check your contract and see what kind of penalty you take if you break it. I would recommend breaking it.

If you break your contract, you should try calling my photographer Bill Minnick....

www.minnickphotography.com

He is very nice and reasonable and might have your date open. Give it a shot. He did Hmpena's (Hollie) wedding. Her proofs are in her community album.

I would call around and make sure you can hire someone else before you cancel with your current photographer.

Re: photographer problem (kinda long)

That's a good suggestion! Check your contract and find someone else. Sometimes, counting your losses and moving on is better. Just see how much you would lose.

I can recommend my photographer. FM if you need more information.

Re: photographer problem (kinda long)

I just checked my contract and I am responsible for 2/3 of the fee b/c it is less than 6 months away. So I guess I am stuck using them. We have an appointment next week, and will certainly let them know how unhappy we are. They are a popular photographer and would not want the bad publicity. Everyone has been so unbelievably helpful and accommodating except for this on vendor...I guess I'm lucky it is just one vendor. I am afraid to cause too much of a problem b/c I don't want them to screw up our pictures....

Re: photographer problem (kinda long)

i switched photographers 5 months after i booked them. it says in my contract that the deposit is not refundable, but we just got them to give it back yesterday! so i am very happy and won't name names.

with that being said, you have to do what makes you comfortable. call them and tell them how you feel. you shouldn't be apprehensive about one of the biggest wedding vendors you have. good luck!
