Wingate hotel - very long
I just had to share with you ladies a horrible experience at the wingate Hotel. A friend of mine got married a couple weeks ago at the Westbury Manor - that was wonderful - everything was perfect! Then we had a little after party at the wingate where most of her friends had rooms. What a bad experience! First of all when she booked the hotel she was told her room would be free! The she called after awhile to see if she can have a kereoke guy come in for a couple hours they said no problem! She then asked if she can cater in some cold food (sandwiches & stuff) Again they said no problem! Well a couple days before the wedding she called to confirm everything and they told her Oh yeah by the way you cant do any of that! Unless you pay $$$ and by $$$ I mean a lot of money!!! Then after getting mad they said they would waive most of the fees. Then the day of they tell her oh you cant have liquor - we were like again we were told this wouldn't be a problem I mean what kind of after party for wedding wouldn't includes drinks!!! Well to make a very long Story short she got home from her honeymoon yesterday DH checked his CC and boom they charged them for everything including the room. So ladies beware get everything in writing!!!

Re: Wingate hotel - very long
Just tell her to keep on them about everything!!I had a similar experience with them. For example, I had already reserved the bar for our after-party and then the day I checked in they were like 'did you want to reserve the bar for your after-party?'
This happened with a few other things too.I found them to be very disorganized in the sense that a different person takes care of every little thing there and don't usually communicate with each other. We were double charged for something and it took about a month to have the charge removed.

yEAH you do need to keep on them...We actually won a nights stay there and are using it for our wedding night I alo had reserved a room for the night before just in case it I needed to get ready at a hotel the day of....I booked it in November....when I did the room block I wanted to confirm that I had the room for the night before and night of....well the only had the wedding night one booked...so I re booked it
THEN I called 2 weeks ago to see if any of our guests had booked rooms yet AND they had us down for 2 NIGHTS ON THE DAY BEFORE MY WEDDING

I really hope the credit her! When she got her receipt upon check out - it said balance 0 then with the credit card statement it is all on there so I told her to call the cc card company and just stop the charge and send the receiplt to them but I dunno. I am just so angry that they did this. They really put a damper on a perfect day!!!

yes, well said
That's exactly what happened to us re: the bill (with the $0 balance thing). They kept telling us they would credit us and it kept not happening. I think my dad finally threatened to get his lawyer involved & it suddenly magically was credited a few days later. I know that sounds extreme but it was almost a month later and it's the only thing that worked!

Re: Wingate hotel - very long
The Wingate was the hotel we used for the wedding-- we stayed there, our guests stayed there-- we set up a hospitality suite for people before they checked in before the wedding and we did our morning after brunch there. They were nothing but accomodating and every single thing that was included, price breaks- any rules, etc. were in my contract with them. I am sure everyone has a different experience, but mine was extremely positive. If what the hotel promised your freind was in her contract, she should not have a problem fighting them-- that's what contracts are for.
