Whats the deal with certified copies of the marriage license?

Do we need them to send to DMV and SS if we are doing all changes my mail or will they take copies?

need the original for everything. Always bring the original

You need the originals but if you get a certified copy from Town Hall, you can use that too...They actually suggested I send the Certified Copy to the passport department

FYI - I haven't needed any extra copies other than the one provided by Town Hall.....and I've completed the name-change process (except for some department store credit cards.
