PLEASE please please read- I REALLY need your help! UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE

UPDATE AT BOTTOM

I have posted before about my gown but now theres more!
-went to try on gown, found mine, wanted to take pics they wouldn't let me (now they allow you to) They gave me 2 slips to try on, a medium a-line and a HUGE one. The HUGE was too HUGE so I was measured hem to hollow with a-line and 2 1/2' heels. Once I looked at pics I realized the dress looked droopy but it was too late I already ordered it.
-2 out of 3 measurements were an 8. I knew I was going to lose weight so I said order me the 8. (It has a corset so how bad could it be to order a little smaller) They refused and now my dress is HUGE on me. Once my 10 arrived they said 'you couldve signed off on the 8' I was pissed I was never given that option and my current measurements are a perfect 8.
-Once my dress arrived- all of a sudden they have this IN BETWEEN slip that is PERFECT but makes my dress too short to wear with heels but I order it anyway which they tell me is $60. It arrives last week and all of a sudden it is $125!!!!!!
-So now they tell me- no big deal we'll take it in and well let out some of the material on the pickups to make it longer. WHAT?

So now I have to spend a cap of $175 for alterations I shouldnt need if I was allowed to take a pic and sign off on my size. PLUS they are refusing to start my alterations until AUGUST and I am afraid because what if I am not happy with the outcome.. I will be left with no other options. SO should I say

'Either order me a new dres NOW or do the alterations NOW or I am taking my dress elsewhere?' Or should I leave the dress alone and wear flats and just let them take it in or am I being a BRIDEZILLA?????

They sound horrible! You are not being unreasonable but Just make sure you have a back-up plan if you take your dress somewhere else--it may cost you more. Good luck

Re: PLEASE please please read- I REALLY need your help!

Yes, demand a new dress be ordered....it's too much to take in a dress a full size...we're not talking just the hips or the bust or waist....the whole entire size is wrong. i hope you paid witha credit card....threaten to have the credit card refund you....it will cost the dress shop, not you. do what it takes...i would prefer a whole new dress in that situation....

in fact....when i tried mine on (prior to purchase) i tried on an 8 and it was too big in the lower back...so she 'pinned' it and said really that was all i needed....but for kicks she asked if i would try a similar dress in a 6 just to see....so i agreed and six was perfect (a little snug at the time)...didn't need anything taken in....so we ordered the 6...well...i lost more weight (by accident) and so now the 6 is being taken in some....it would've been awful if i'd had to take in the 8 that much!!

Re: PLEASE please please read- I REALLY need your help!

I had a very similar situation. When I ordered my dress I was in between sizes so they told me to order the bigger size since it is easier to make it smaller instead of making it bigger. I told them I was going to lose weight, but they still advised me to get the bigger size.

Well I did lose weight and when the dress arrived it was gigantic. I didn't even have to unzip it to take it off, it was falling off of me. I was really upset.
I had to get massive alterations and it ended up costing me $600 but the dress fits perfectly now.

If there is enough time, I would order a new one.

They probably dont want to do the alterations in case you loose more weight. You can also consider taking the dress out of the shop and getting it altered mt an independent, reputable tailr/seamstress...that is if you are entirely FED UP with these people. Good luck!

Re: PLEASE please please read- I REALLY need your help!

Yikes! I'm sorry your story got worse!

I would definitely insist on them ordering a new dress in the right size with the right slip. Someone else posted on here that if you paid by credit card you could try to use the threat of a charge reversal to get this done.

You have to get across to them that you want the dress that should have been ordered for you in the first place gets ordered and that this huge dress is not your problem - it's there's. I don't think I would even suggest that they try to fix this one now and not wait until August - I wouldn't give them this out.

The dress is gorgeous - you just need it in the correct size. I honestly would call my credit card company and see if they won't reverse the charge and try to find the dress elsewhere. I hate the idea that you are trying to make this wrong dress right. You should be so in love with your dress and they have made it impossible.

Good luck & keep us posted!

you said:

WHAT????? is right!!

DO NOT let them let out the pick ups!!! It will change your entire dress!!!! I would DEMAND they order you a new dress!!!!

But, if they need to take it in a full size it will still look ok, that happened to me once to. I bought a dress lost a ton of weight and they had to take it in about 2 sizes and it still looked beautiful!!

DON'T LET THEM TAKE OUT YOUR PICKUPS!!

I agree with everyone- don't let them take out the pickups- it would change the look of the dress. Insist that they order you a new dress in the right size and length, and tell them you'll dispute the charge with your credit card company. Just make sure to check the contract/order slip you signed to make sure it doesn't say anything on it about refunds/exchanges, etc, because the store can use that against your claim. Also threatedn to contact the BBB about them. They provided you with terrible service and they need to make ammends. If you're not comfortable with using them at all, then damand a refund and get it somewhere else.

Tell them to get a new dress. I would not want to be stucked paying for alterations because they decided to order the bigger size.

I would not change the pick-up either. That would change the look of the dress.

Re: PLEASE please please read- I REALLY need your help!

Your story made me angry and made me panic so much because I'm going to be in the same boat as you come next year. I tried on an 8 and it fit me a little loose but because my hips were closer to 10 they ordered me a ten, despite the fact that hip measurments don't count when you're wearing a ballgown. If I lose weight (which is something I want to do) I will lose a lot on top so I know the top of the dress isn't going to fit me. I know that when the dress comes in they aren't going to remember that I told them to order me the 8 and they aren't going to remember that the 8 I tried on was too big. That being said I know they are going to have to do a lot of alterations and they included the max price for alterations when I purchased the dress. I don't care if they have to take the dress in from a 10 to a 6 they ordered the size large so they are going to have to deal with the alteration. I also didn't order a hollow to hem because I didn't know what kind of slip or shoes I was going to wear with the dress and I didn't want the dress to come in too short. They tried to convince me to order hollow to hem but I refused and they allowed me to sign off on it. If I were you I would use the medium slip that you like and wear flats with the dress. I would however force them to alter the dress 2 months before the wedding. If you have to, lie to them and tell them that you either moved your wedding up by one month or tell them that you're doing a photoshoot one month before the wedding amd you need your dress early. Or you could tell them that their policy of not letting brides take photographs when ordering hollow to hem is a bad policy and that they will either have to alter it now and remove some of the bustles so you can decide if you want to wear the fuller slip with heels. If it changes the dress to much tell them that they have to redo the bustles and you can wear the dress with flats or they will have order a new dress for you. I know I'm going to be in the same situation next year and its making me so angry!!

I dont think you are being a bridezilla at all. Ask for what you want....if you feel you want a new dress then ORDER it. I think I would order another dress as long as it would come in in time.

Good luck I hope everything works out for you!!
