Cake: are you planning on, or did you, eat it at your 1 year anniversary?

Hubby and I aren't all that enamored with the idea of keeping a big box of cake in our small freezer for a year and eating it.

A friend said his cousin did and they both got sick! It was the same kind of cake as ours too!

I don't know. I'm thinking of making up a story that we had a power outage and it melted to tell my Mom. She's naggy when it comes to traditions.

What did you do, or are you planning on doing? If you ate it, was it really gross?

Re: Cake: are you planning on, or did you, eat it at your 1 year anniversary?

I'm waiting but my mom complains to me daily that it's taking up too much room in her freezer. I'm going to take one small bite and then probabyl puke.

I've heard of getting a duplicate made and then eat that for real!

Re: Cake: are you planning on, or did you, eat it at your 1 year anniversary?

Our top layer was HUGE...So I cut it into pieces. DH & I enjoyed 2 pieces the night after our wedding. I froze the rest & had some when we got home from our HM!

Now we have 2 slices in the freezer for our 1 year anniversary. I looked at it the other day & it doesn't look bad...We intend on taking a taste on our anniversary (stick to tradition) & throw the rest out.

I like the idea of getting a dup made!!! Good thinking leese!!!

OMG, i should tell my mom --- maybe that's what we should do, just two huge pieces and junk the rest (or try to eat it now?!)

we are saving it, honestly several of my friends did it, and yes it won't be as fresh, but none got sick. We have ours in a freeze tight box my sister got us for it.

Re: Cake: are you planning on, or did you, eat it at your 1 year anniversary?

I plan on breaking it out on or about our 2 month anniversary. I can't see taking up the room in my fridge and having it taste like crap in a year.....would rather enjoy it now, and the extra space for the year!

Re: Cake: are you planning on, or did you, eat it at your 1 year anniversary?

We ate our cake on our 1 month anniversary. Audrey's bakery is right around the block from us so we will have a duplicate cake made up on our 1st year and enjoy that. It was too good to waste!

Re: Cake: are you planning on, or did you, eat it at your 1 year anniversary?

We are going to eat it on our one month anniversary. I don't want to eat some nasty 1 yr old freezer burned cake. On our 1yr anniversary we will treat ourselves to a yummy freshly baked cake! Or an ice cream cake!

Re: Cake: are you planning on, or did you, eat it at your 1 year anniversary?

We kept ours in my parents freezer in CT the whole year. On our 1 yr. anniversary we tried eating it but it was horrible. It was a soggy gross mess! One bite and the rest was thrown away.

Re: Cake: are you planning on, or did you, eat it at your 1 year anniversary?

Ours is sitting in the freezer right now. I want to wait, but I don't really want to eat year old cake. We might have it for our 3 month anniversary.

I'd really like to try and wait out the year. But either way we're going back to Stonebridge for our anniversary, so if nothing else we'll have some cake from the same cook!

Re: Cake: are you planning on, or did you, eat it at your 1 year anniversary?

We plan on eating ours on our 1 year anniversary...or at least when we get back from our trip. If it's bad after all this time, a full roll of plastic wrap, a full roll or aluminum foil and taking up the entire top shelf of our freezer...urrr...I'll be mad.
Worst comes to worst...we'll just go down to the bakery and buy another one.
