English couple getting married at City Hall in April 2002

Hi my name is Kelly. My boyfriend & I are coming to New York from England in April 2002 to get married at City Hall. Does anyone know how the wedding ceremony works at City Hall. We would also like web-sites or e-mail addresses of any reasonable wedding photographers. As there will only be the two of us we don`t need anything too fancy. Thanks Kelly

Your best bet is to go to the web site for New York city hall. Also, call the chamber of commerce and they can give you photographers in the city.

Congratulations! Sorry it took so long to reply. I don't check this board as often as I once did. Have you the NYC license info yet? If not, you are going to have to make a stop at city hall (100 Center Street) with 2 forms of ID and if there have been any prior marriages, proof of the termination there of. There is a 24 hour waiting period for the license to become valid. It's $35.00 and they take money orders only. I'm not sure how much extra it is for them to do the ceremony but you may want to consider Central Park or some other more Romantic place. I wed 2 couples from the UK last year and from what I gather it is not like it is in England with the Registra's Office playing a big role. Here the officiant of your choice mails in the paperwork and roughly 6 weeks later your confirmation comes in the mail. Good luck, may you have many wonderful years together. L&L, April
