Older first time Future Bride....Please assist.
Hi Ladies,Yes, I am an older first time future bride. I am in my early 40's.....Any suggestions on a dress? It is the day I have waited for, I couldn't be happier. Just not sure on the dress. I don't think I would feel comfortable in the big beautiful 'CINDERELLA' dress content:
But it is my day and I want it to look like a wedding dress.
Any advise or suggestions would be appreciated.....
Thanks,
Kathy:

Re: Older first time Future Bride....Please assist.
Congrats and welcome
I think you should go in with an open mind... and see what looks best on you... you may want a nice simiple weddign dress but end up falling in love with the cinderella look (nothing wrong wiht ANY bride wanting to look bridish!)
take one person wiht you and when one of you cries thats THE dress... also i dont think theres an age limit to the big bridal dress.. just if your comfortable ...
good luck in your planning and welcome

Congrats and Welcome!
I am also an 'older' bride. 37. And I don't want anything poofy. I know exactly what your looking for. They are called informal wedding dress.
Go to Google or any search engine and type it in. You will get tons of websites that have beautiful gowns that are not poofy and don't have a cathedral train. Good luck!

Right there with you in the age category and first time wedding category. My suggestion - try on anything and everything that strikes your fancy, (including the Cinderella ballgown style) then try on a few that are suggested by the women at the shop even if you think they are totally not your style or anything you would ever consider wearing. You'll know which dress is the ONE for you.

Don't feel that way because you are in your 40's. It's your day and whatever makes you comfortable. Try on every type of dress and make sure decision from there. It's your wedding day.

I agree. Try everything! Since I am bit older too and this is my 2nd wedding, I was not sure what to wear. I tried on everything style possible. Ballgown, strapless, sheath... Until I found my dress.
And don't worry that this is your first wedding in your 40's. This is your wedding! So, go for it.

I was 39 when I got married for the 1st time in May and I felt the same way. I wanted to have the big wedding but was nervous about the dress. When I went shopping, I tried alot of different things on and they dress I would up with was a traditional gown but it was A-line vs. a ball gown. I would definitely try on all the styles because you might suprise yourself.

Hi !!!I got married for the first time on 6/25. I'm in my early 40's and went through the same thing.
Try on different dresses and see what you feel comfortable in. I ended up with a strapless A-line - here's a link to my non-professional pix. My dress was traditional yet not too much and I loved the way I looked in it. Good luck and have FUN !!!

I'm in my mid 30's and at first was concerned about the type of dress I'd wear. Don't short change yourself, look around and try on whatever you like. It's your wedding and you're entitled to wear the dress that you love whatever that turns out to be. If you fall in love with the poofy ballgown then go for it..nobobdy will think anything of it.Happy dress shopping!

I was an over 40 bride
! My advise is when you go looking at dresses go with someone you truse & try on many different styles. You might surprise yourself & end up with something you didn't think you'd like. This was mine:
