OK - need advice on a wedding gift - what should I do (with poll)??

Ok, I have a friend of the family who got married 6 days before my wedding. I wasn't able to make it b/c it was just too crazy. All of us (the other couple & my fiance & I) just got back from our honeymoons. We had planned to send them a check when we got back, but they beat us to it. They sent us a check for $200 and we were going to send them the exact same thing. Now I think it seems silly to send them a card and basically 'swap checks' - what should I do?

Should I still send a check? Should I buy them a gift from where they are registered? Any other options?? Let me know what you think...Laura

It really looks like you're swapping..Iwould get something off their registry

I would also get something from the registry also. This way you are spending the dollar amount you would like, but giving it in a different form.

Send a check - thats what happens. You get married then your friends get married and you all give each other the same amount. Its somewhat ridiculous, but always the way it is!

I would just send them a check. If it were me getting the gift the check would probably be best

I voted for $100 check, $100 gift. I had my shower and still have lots of stuff on my registry I would love to recieve but money is always good too. This combo is a nice compromise.
