NAME CHANGE QUESTION...DMV

Does the DMV need the original marriage certificate or is it okay if i bring a copy?

and by marriage certificate, we mean the thing that arrived in the mail? just checking...i'll be going in a month to do this when i have time off...want to be sure.

do they keep it? the SS office wants me to bring the original and they keep it! that scares me but whatever.

are you kidding? no wonder women just don't bother to change their names anymore. even if they give it back, it might look awful when they're done with it...

They don't keep it. They just take a look at it and give the original right back to you.

Bring the original. I just went to the SS office and DMV and neither of them keep it... they just look at it!

They don't keep the original at SS. They look at it and return it. Same goes for DMV.
