which/where is the social security office?

I'm not a LI native, so I absolutely don't know. Which location [Nassau] do you use for name changes?

eta--the one in mineola...you can change your name there?

go to www.ssa.gov. All the way on the bottom left there is a place to click that says 'use your zip to find our office.' Any district office can do this for you. They try to tell you that you have to go where you live, but that's just a lazy excuse. You should still go the the one for where you live just to avoid the nastiness of some employees. You can also call their 800# at 1-800-772-1213 for any info, but be prepared to wait 20 minutes for something that should take 5 seconds.

I used to work for SSA and I still deal with them daily in the work I do now. HTH.

there's one in freeport on sunrise highway and one in long beach on east park ave.

I went to the one in Long Beach and I was in and out in 20 minutes. But I went first thing in the morning, I believe the hours are 9am to 4pm.

There is a Social Security office in Freeport and also one in Huntington.

There is a Social Security office in Freeport and also one in Huntington.

The one in Huntington is considered to be the 'Melville Office.' I guess it's a Melville address but it sure seems like Huntington. They're nice there, at least compared to other offices I've dealt with!!!

Has anybody gone to the Freeport office lately? I think I remember reading on a nother thread that it was closed due to flooding or something like that. I just tried to call but it was an automated service.
