since lunch is over, let's discuss food
more specifically, food issues...I am a quasi picky eater...I have a lot of issues with the food I eat, but I can find something to eat just about anywhere. I like all different types of food, BUT I do not like the following in any way
chicken on the bone (dark meat)
JELLO
anything wiggly
beats
brussel sprouts
My mouth is very sensitive to spicy food...I am a food wimp, though trying to build up my tolerance.
'mouth feel' (my copyright on that phrase is pending
) is very important to me. even if the flavor is good, if it doesn't have the right texture, it's in the napkin it goes...I any trace of fat or grizzle makes me gag...if I bite into meat that has fat or grizzle on it, I lose my appetite.also, my bread must be perfectly aligned if I am having a sandwich, top to top, bottom to bottom.
I never EVER claimed to be normal.

OK....my DH hates the same foods you listed. Won't eat a rotisserie chicken to save his soul.I ahve the same issues with textures and appearance.
It's like someone smashed he and I together and came up with you!

Re: since lunch is over, let's discuss food
I don't think that I'm a picky eater - though I understand the importance of 'mouth feel'. Onions, mushrooms and spinach are foods I can't eat because they just feel gross. And while I eat sushi on occassion, there are just some rolls that feel nasty once I try to chew.
I'm a spicy foods wimp - I like Indian food, but I only eat very specific foods that I know won't burn my lips.

Re: since lunch is over, let's discuss food
Well I haven't had lunch yet, but I'm always up for talking about food!!I eat everything, I really do!! My stomach is a machine and I'm always hungry (unless I'm upset about something). Tho I'm also a wimp when it comes to spicy stuff so I have to get everything mild.

Re: since lunch is over, let's discuss food
I'm pretty much a texture person as well. I am also a snob when it comes to the well-ness of my meat and certain fish.I'll add mine freaky food fetishes:
Soggy lettuce - I can't even think aboutit
If a tomato is cut in wedges in a salad, I won't eat them
Anything slippery or slimey

it was a hard knock life for me..I don't eat it NOW b/c I was FORCED to back then...
now I can AFFORD $4.99 for a pound of chicken breast vs. the $.49 a pound for chicken leg!
The breast shows you just how far I've come
Cheryl, we can't smash anyone together...the texture is such a turnoff

Re: since lunch is over, let's discuss food
I have a lot of weird food things:The texture thing to me is very crucial. I won't eat mushrooms, tomatoes, jello and various other things because of texture. If its the least bit slimy, no way!
HOWEVER, I do like things flavored with mushrooms and tomato-based foods, like spaghetti sauce.
I won't mix fruit with dessert. So no apple pie or cake with fruit fillings.
I cannot, repeat CANNOT eat anything even remotely spicy. It burns my mouth and then gives me heart burn.
I am sure there are many other food odditiy things here I am missing.
DH thinks I am a freak.

I forgot to add, I can not eat anything that's been 'filled'. Jelly donuts, etc.No nuts or raisins either. NEVER

Re: since lunch is over, let's discuss food
I like to mix things together that aren't meant to be mixed. Like at Thanksgiving, I make sure I have a little of everything on my fork (cranberry sauce, squash, mashed potato, Tofurkey, stuffing) before eating it! I often use multiple condiments at once.I like foods that can be dipped into something (those new pizza dippin strips from Pizza Hut are my new obsession)
I think most meals can be improved by putting them on a bun (eggplant parm - good. eggplant parm hero - great) - as it makes me feel more 'fulfilled'
I tend to avoid foods that require actual effort to eat (oranges, lobsters)
ETA: I don't like eating messy foods - due to the effort of trying to keep clean (OK at home, not in public) including Corn on the cob, powdered donuts, and again oranges and lobsters.

Re: since lunch is over, let's discuss food
I wont even touch:chicken
seafood
meat
asparagus
brussel sprouts
lima beans
any peppers
mushrooms
beats
eggplant
eggs - only used to make cakes etc.
Jello

In terms of making food:
I dont touch anything bloody and I REFUSE to touch anything with bones
Kinda makes things hard

I eat anything and everything! Except really spicy food. I have a total sweet tooth and sometimes I eat the dessert before the meal!

Re: since lunch is over, let's discuss food
Oh yes, the grizzle thing for me too. I just totally lose any appetite for what I'm eating. Also, if I'm eating fish and I get a pin, that's the end of it. I can't eat it anymore
