Does anyone know anything about Montauk?

Like which restaurants are good ,etc. DH and I are going out this afternoon and I have no idea where we should go to dinner.
We are NOT driving out, so anything IN Montauk would be helpful.

Thanks!

Thanks. In light of the effing forcast for RAIN, I'll try. I actually want to cancel - why bother spending a few days at the beach when it's effing raining?
I've had a craptastic summer and I can't even get a few good freaking days at the beach. Nor can I get a refund from my hotel.

Let's review, missing work is ALWAYS fun. You should focus on that. I will be doing the no rain dance for you.

ON a side note, WWMD = HYSTERICAL.

Okay, this is true. I will focus on the positives - no work, spending time with the DH who goes back to school on Monday.

I think I want this on a shirt.

Re: Does anyone know anything about Montauk?

is Montauk a town, or just a point?

I didn't know there was ANYTHING in Montauk except that lighthouse.

In any event, enjoy. actually being at the beach in the rain (or even with the beach in view in the rain) is one of the most relaxing and enjoyable things to me. I am a big fan of the ocean and there is something about it when it is frothing...

anyway, I digress....make the best of it and enjoy.

Re: Does anyone know anything about Montauk?

Jess, there's Montauk and there's Montauk Point (where the lighthouse is). Montauk is a lil 'summer' town.

Mel, have a great time!!!!!! Sorry I can't help with recommendations tho.

Re: Does anyone know anything about Montauk?

I lived out there for 19 summers, what do you need to know??

Oyster Pond is a great restaurant in town and it turns into a fun bar after about 10pm.

Lenny's is nice too, it is by Gosman's which is good as well. It is touristy, but cute.

Town is cute, there is some fun shopping, a candy store, etc.

Gurney's has a nice spa and is really pretty if it is rainy out

Let me know if you need more info!

I wish I was going!

Thank you!!! I have a few more questions --
Is it easy to get around by cab? Like if we go out and need a cab late, would we wait forever for one?
Any cute breakfast places?

Re: Does anyone know anything about Montauk?

Yeah, there are cabs all over. Grab the number for Pink Tuna and just call it when you are ready to go home. It is smart to do that, since cops are all over the place.

Hmmm, cute breakfast. I would try Joni's it is a little granola, but yummy and there is a diner in town that was in Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, it looks like nothing, but has good diner food. Most places out there have good brunches too.

HTH. Enjoy it. Even in the rain it is fun! Go visit my golf course for me! Oh there is pool up there too if your DH would want to play golf, you can go to the pool (its like $7 per day or something) and they have a cute little lunch area!
