Another thank-you wording question

There is one couple that we *think* did not give us a gift or card but we are not 100% sure. My MIL asked her friend who is the mother of one of them and the mother said she asked and never got an answer.
We asked just to check if a card was lost...but anyways now I'm wondering how to word the thank-you..do I say thank you for the generous gift or not?

Re: Another thank-you wording question

That is a tough one. We had the same problem with a few people. We didn't receive a card at all so we didn't know if it some how got lost or if they didn't give us a card or gift. We ended up asking them if they had brought a card and or gift with them because there had been one that had been lost. (My cousin had told my parents right after my wedding that she brough us a card but couldn't remember if she had ever given it to us and couldn't find it) Since that happened with her I figured I would double check with my other guest.

If you never recieved a card from them then I would just ask them again if they had given you one. If you did receive a card (no gift) then just thank them for coming and tell them how much it ment to you that they were able to come.
