Re: I need your advice - planning ceremony

Are you doing it in a church?

It usually goes

Reading 1

Reading 2

Vows

Unity candle - the bride and groom don't normally light the candle until they are husband and wife

I like the first one. I think spliting up the reading is a good idea...i think that is the part when people get board the most

Re: I need your advice - planning ceremony

Its not at a church, outside on the water

My concern with doing unity candle last is that the mothers are supposed to light their candles in the beginning. If there is a breeze it might blow them out... Should i have them light theirs later or do the unity candle early....

Re: I need your advice - planning ceremony

Is there anyway you can put something around the tops of the candles to keep them from blowing out? If not I would have the moms light them later on.

Re: I need your advice - planning ceremony

I would have the moms come up and light them later on, then the 2 of you can light the unity candle together.

You're right about the wind outside. It was so windy for our ceremony we couldn't light any of the candles!! So then we did it privately at our dais at the beginning of the reception.

Re: I need your advice - planning ceremony

We had our wedding at land's end and our unity ceremony was after the vows......we actually did a sand ceremony instead because we were worried about candles blowing out.
