DID YOU INSURE YOUR WEDDING BANDS AND E-RING?

I keep hearing about this and am wondering if we should do this? I know it makes sense because god forbid you lose your bands you can get another, but can we really afford to take on an addtional expense right now. I figure doing this after the wedding would be best. What do you think?

Re: DID YOU INSURE YOUR WEDDING BANDS AND E-RING?

I would do it for your piece of mind. It really isn't that expensive. I got insurance for about $150 from State Farm.

Re: DID YOU INSURE YOUR WEDDING BANDS AND E-RING?

Absolutely, we did it through the company that has our home owners insurance. It definitely is for peace of mind.

Re: DID YOU INSURE YOUR WEDDING BANDS AND E-RING?

My e-ring is insured but not the wedding bands. Both our bands are plain without any diamonds etc, so I didn't feel the need.

It is insured through the jewelery store until we include in our home policy.

Re: DID YOU INSURE YOUR WEDDING BANDS AND E-RING?

Definitely do it!

My DH didn't even propose to me until he had already put the e-ring on our homeowners' insurance. It's really not that expensive. Our homeowner's insurance covered up to $25,000 in jewelry, but would only cover a single piece up to $3000...I think it was only an extra $200 per year to add a rider that covers my e-ring, wedding band and some other more expensive pieces that are over the $3000. It should be less expensive than that if you're only insuring the e-ring.

God forbid something happens you'll be soooo glad you did it.

Re: DID YOU INSURE YOUR WEDDING BANDS AND E-RING?

Ok I guess we are going to have to look into this. We don't have a home yet..so I'm going to see if we can get rental insurance or get it through the jewelry store we got our rings from. Thanks ladies!

Re: DID YOU INSURE YOUR WEDDING BANDS AND E-RING?

YES!!! Do it. It's really not that expensive...it depends on the value of your ring, but you really should do it It's going to be a lot more expensive replacing your ring than paying the insurance on it.

You don't have to go through the jewelry store. I bought my policy from my car insurance company - State Farm. It's called a personal articles policy. Very inexpensive for full replacement and appreciation value included.

Re: DID YOU INSURE YOUR WEDDING BANDS AND E-RING?

I insured both. I highly recommend it, most of the time. However, I have a friend whose DH has a 10K gold plain band and he has insurance on it. I know it's valuable to him but it seems silly to insure it.

Re: DID YOU INSURE YOUR WEDDING BANDS AND E-RING?

Yes. We added them to our homeowners policy. It's only a couple of hundred per year. Worth the investment in my opinion.

Re: DID YOU INSURE YOUR WEDDING BANDS AND E-RING?

Yes, FH insured my e-ring before he took it from the Jeweler and we have insured both bands also.

Really it is a lot of money in diamons (all 3 have diamonds in them). Insurance is about $130 per year for the 4 total rings we have insured.

Totally worth it if nothing else, for the peace of mind...

Re: DID YOU INSURE YOUR WEDDING BANDS AND E-RING?

I wouldnt let DH put my e-ring on my finger until he insured it. As for our wedding bands, they are plain, solid platinum that we got at below cost so they weren't worth insuring.
