Totally Random Poll of the Day - Greeters

So going to BR or Gap, there is ALWAYS the greeter. The one who says, Hello welcome to BR. HOnestly I don't find the point of greeters, I find them annoying. I just want to shop! (clearly I am an anti-social shopper).

I actually used to be the designated greeter at an old job (they said it was cause I was happy and chipper, but I think it was cause no one else would do it!)

Totally depends on the mood I'm in. Like, if I'm feeling sorry for myself on a given day and the cute guy at the gap with the dreads says 'What's Up', I smile back coyly and say 'Hi'

I'm indifferent to greeters.
The only kind that I truly hate are the perfune people in department stores.

greeters I don't mind...I hate when sales people ask if I need help finding my size...especially after I've eaten...

what, they have 'my size' in the back, lest the amount of extra material frighten the skinny people

Okay, I hate in smaller shops when they tell me to come out so they can see how I look.
Um, no. You're not my BFF. If I look like crap, it's coming off.

Yeah - I feel judged after I tell them my size and sometimnes I get the 'that is so not your size, who are you fooling face' - which I DO NOT apprciate.

I also don't like the people who work the little booths in the aisles of mall who come and try to lure you in - I avoid eye contact at all costs

Mostly I like them.

Now that I have children I am not much of a shopper. I want to get in and out. So Ill grab the greeter the second I walk in the door and ask them where the ____ is. Its so much better than searching someone out!

They're so annoying!!! Sometimes I just want to flip 'em off just to see what they would do/say!!

Part of the reason why I don't really shop in those stores, they're just so fake. I know you're not happy to see me, you just want to go home, so stop kidding yourself, you're not fooling anyone.

Indifferent.... I worked in retail for many years, so I played the part of the greeter and the annoying sales person asking if you need help many times. I hated doing it, but you had to. Especially because you knew you might be 'shopped' by a secret shopper. So I take pity on these people because I know that it totally s ucks for them and they don't want to be doing it.

I think it's the NY'ers in us...we are so used to getting $hit on..that when someone is actually nice we get turned off..

I was one when I worked for Wet Seal yeaaaaarrrrssss ago.. it was a rotating shift, but you HAD to greet EVERY person that walked in.. it was SO lame!!!

I find nothing more annoying than greeters. My DH basically has to force me to even acknowledge them (because he thinks I'm rude), but when I refuse to tell the guy at Banana Republic 'How I'm doing today,' I'm actually staging a one-woman protest against greeters!

They're not bad-but sometimes I am in no mood and just want to be left alone and I feel obligated to say 'hi' back.
