A little vent about what just happened to me
Ok so I am alittle less then 6 months away from my wedding and I have no florist.....I wanted silk flowers (im not really into real for my wedding) anyway so I start calling some florists and one just told me that because I am getting married 2 days after valentines day he is just gonna be to busy to help me out...he then said I will probably get the same answer from other florists or they will tell me the prices are going to be much much higher because of the time of year......
I appreciate the honesty but did I need to hear that?? I dont know what to do, we only need 8 bo-ks because my centerpieces are candles and we really dont want to spend lots of $$$$$$$ on flowers (we are buying a house right around the wedding) so I am very sad and stuck and dont know who to call now.
Thanks for letting me vent

yikes!!if you're doing silk, then maybe you don't need a florist to do them.....maybe Michael's or maybe you can make them yourself.

Re: A little vent about what just happened to me
don't let them get you down! That comment is up there when a reception hall that asked me if I would be wearing a wedding gown, because they already have a wedding that day. They would accommodate me if I am not wearing a wedding gown. WHAT?
Oh, OK....maybe I'll wear a hefty bag on my wedding day!? I'd never do business with a place that it less than eager to help me!
You will find a place! Did you search on line? Or did you try patchogue floral? I also feel like I saw a silk & dried floral place on Nassau Blvd, just south of Adelphi Univ..

I agree with trying a craft store, if you are looking to save money that might be your best bet!

Re: A little vent about what just happened to me
They are silk. Any good florist will know that they can do them early! They are SILK, they will not wilt or brown. Screw that guy he is a jerk. I went to Imperial florist in Baldwin on Merrick Rd (they did my mom's flower's 40 yrs ago when they were in brklyn) and they were super eager/helpful. The first thing they asked was real or silk.Give them a call.

michaels and ac moore will arange SILK flowers for FREE. all you have to do is buy the silk flowers from them.that said... i feel awful that he spoke to you like that. he's an idiot. any business owner knows that some money is better than no money, and after v-day, flowershops are DEAD until easter/mother's day. he's an idiot for not taking the work.

My cousin used an online vendor to make all of her silk bo-k's and it was very inexpensive (I think it cost her $140 for 5 BM's, her bo-k and church pieces). They came out really pretty and she was very happy. FM me if you want me to get the info for you.

That is a GREAT option. And they do good work. I watched a woman at Michael's do the flowers for a wedding (when I was shopping for my flowers) and they were gorgeous!
You can also do them yourself. I made my bouquet, my MOH's bouquet and all the bouts several months before the wedding (I also did silks). It was one less thing to worry about. And it was a LOT cheaper.

DId you try Flower Michele? My SIL booked him a month before the wedding with no problems... I would figure you could get a better deal on roses since it's after valentine's day, maybe you could get the ones they didn't sell...??

Re: A little vent about what just happened to me
How about that Ntl. Flower Wholesalers? My brothers bestfriend used them and her boquet was silk she has it on her coffee table(they turned it into and arrangement for her so she could keep it out in the house and I know they arent expensive.

I agree - I don't know why the florist would not realize that. It is better that you don't have to deal with them anyway! You will find a florist who will be excited to do you wedding and your flowers will come out beautiful!
