Mini Tahitian Review (Papeete Intercont -Moorea Pearl- Bora Bora Thalasso)

Hello Ladies, back from Tahiti and Missing it. I had so much fun and it is so beautiful. Ive never seen water so crystal blue. Here are my pics & Mini Review...
We started off with 2 nts in Papeete at Intercontinental in the Panoramic Room. The room was beautiful and enjoyed the 2 nts because we were able to shake off some of the Jetlag and go downtown and make appointments for our Tatoos. On Tues. Night we ate dinner at Hibicus restaurant on the resort.. the food wasnt good, so we said when we went back we would go back we will eat out. I heard good things about Western Grille (Tex Mex) which is 10 minutes from Intercontinental. The Breakfast Buffet at the Hibiscus was good.

View of Moorea from Intercontinental

Lagoonarium on resort

One of the Infinity Pools - we hung out mostly at the other pool with the Swim up bar. The Bartender was so nice there.

Re: Mini Tahtian Review (Papeete Intercont -Moorea Pearl- Bora Bora Thalasso)

Alot of the Employees walk around with towels and no Shirt.. Hot, Lou kept asking for the Girls in Coconuts.

Off to Moorea.. the flight was 10 minutes and I didnt mind. My hubby hated it and to him it felt like eternity of turbulance (sp?)

We stood 3 Nts. @ Moorea Pearl in the Garden Bungalow with Private Pool. I loved my Private pool, it was nice. The resort was beautiful and clean. We had an ant problem, and the room is supplied with Raid. Tip if you have this problem dont leve any open candy or food. Not all bungalows have this problem, a couple we met didnt have any ants in their room. The problem was minor.

Re: Mini Tahtian Review (Papeete Intercont -Moorea Pearl- Bora Bora Thalasso)

We did two tours in Moorea, becuase we wanted to relax in Bora Bora. We did the Safari Jeep Tour and the Fish and Sting Ray Tour. Both tours we reserved the first day @ the Moorea Pearl Resort.

I dont have pics of the Shark and sting ray feeding becuase they are in a disposable water camera. But it was so much fun and scary. I wasnt to crazy about the Rays touchign me, it freaked the hell out of me, Lou loved it and fell in love with the creatures. Afterwards you have a picnic and hang out on the beach and snorkel. They served BBQ Chicken and Tuna, Rice and some ghetto pasta with Vienna Sausages in it They also serve Hinano (Tahitian Beer) and Rum Punch. It six hours in total.

The Safari Jeep Tour was 4 hrs and it was alot of fun. They drive you around Moorea, at first you take the jeep up to the top of a Mountain. The View is gorgeous, the ride scary. Then you go to some tourist spots including the Pineapple Factory where they let you sample 5 shots of thier liquor. During the Summer Season (Nov - may) they take you to waterfalls.

Pineapple Factory & Farm

From the Jeep goign to the top of the Mountain

Top of the Mountain

Old Polynesian Church

Where they held Human Sacrifices -(I know creepy)

Re: Mini Tahtian Review (Papeete Intercont -Moorea Pearl- Bora Bora Thalasso)

Food at Moorea... The First night we were at Moorea we did the Buffer Dinner and Dance Show. It was pricey and the Buffet was nasty. There was nothing good and we went to bed hungry. The Second day we went to Le Mohogany Restaurant, this was recommended by a local. The Food was delicious and they pick you up and drop you off. We made reservations thru Pearl Resort the same morning.

@ Le Mohogany, our Beer of Choice in Tahiti

Hubby had the Steak.. He said it was yummy, he also loved the String Beans and ate mine.

I had the Shrimp in the Puff Pastry.. it was yummy. I was very pleased.

For the first morning we ate the breakfast buffet at the resort and it was good just pricey. For the next 2 days for breakfast we walked down 5 minutes to where there were shops. We ate ham and cheese baguettes at Mahana Cafe, yummy and affordable. On our last night we also had dinner there, we had Hamburger with Fries. The Burgers were so yummy.

Off to Bora Bora.. we spent 5 nts at Intercontinental Thalasso Spa in an Overwater Bungalow (Emerald Suites).

A much bigger Plane -Thank God for Lou

Re: Mini Tahtian Review (Papeete Intercont -Moorea Pearl- Bora Bora Thalasso)

On the Ferry to Thalasso. I fell in Love, Bora Bora was so beautiful. The water is gorgeous. Me and Luis had Bought 2 bottles of Vodka in NY for Tahiti. Just to drink in our rooms or on our deck. If youa re a drink, I would do this.

Greeting from Thalasso

At Check-in they take a picture of you and greet you with a beverage and a little Rasberry mousse dessert. Later they leave the picture for you in the room.

Our Overwater Bungalow was so gorgeous.. and we were father out than we thought facing the Lagoon and had some view of the Volcano. The weird thing is that your toilet is in the closet, so after you do your thing you ahve to walk to the bathroom to wash your hands

Re: Mini Tahtian Review (Papeete Intercont -Moorea Pearl- Bora Bora Thalasso)

The only thing we did on Bora Bora for activities was Parasailing and massages. We went up 900 feet, it was fun but expensive since it was in Bora bora ($350). Me and Lou had the Custom Body Massage in the Thalasso Spa. It had opened the say before we got there and was still missign furniture, but you wouldnt notices. The Massages were great and you look down into the Lagoon. You also have access to the Sauna and thier showers.

Breakfast is held at the Reef and its a Buffet ofcourse. The food was good and fills you up. The first night we had dinner at the sands. The Food was good. But we Enjoyed our dinner at the Reef on Sunday better. Monday and Tuesday we ate out at Villa Mahana and Bloody Mary's. On Wed. night Sands is closed so we were forced to eat at the Buffet at the Reef, it was italian buffet and it was gross. I was not pleased. Had I known I would have ate out on Wed. night.

To leave the Thalasso resort you have to take the ferry to the Moana. The last ferrys are at 8:30 and 10pm, if you miss ti you ahve to pay $150 for a water taxi. So time yourself well.

Villa Mahana was great. The only thing is that they charge you for the pick up and drop off services. Its added to your bill at the end of the night. Its a small restaurant and the actual chef Damien takes your order. We both had the Beef tenderloin with Gnocchi.. which I dont think it was really gnocchi. It was liek pasta shells in some cream sauce - but still very delicious. The beef was so delicous, tender and glazed in wine. So yummy.. we were both happy. For dessert I had the glazed bananas and lou had the chocolate something, I forgot what it was called. It was chocolate brownie warm with ice cream and chocolate sauce.. so yummy, i like it beeter than mine - but mine was delicous too.

Kitty that was walking around the restaurant, he ended up taking a nap outside on a table, you can see a better view of the inside of the restaurant.

Re: Mini Tahtian Review (Papeete Intercont -Moorea Pearl- Bora Bora Thalasso)

Bloody Mary's was awesome. I loved the food, atmosphere and whole layout. We made reservations thru the resort the first day we got there. We had Shrimp and Beef Kebabs for appetizers -- Delicious. For Entree, I had the Chicken.. it was so yummy. The chicken was seasoned so good. Lou had a combination platter of Lobster and Mahi Mahi cooked with Ranch sauce in Aluminum foil. He never had Mahi Mahi and didnt even knwo what it was LOL. He said it was delicous and he still talks abou it. I dont like fish bit I ate some of the lobster and it was delicious so yummy. We had drinks and Creme Brulee for dessert. It was such a good time.

All Gone

My chicken

We were told that this is the owner (LOL)

Re: Mini Tahtian Review (Papeete Intercont -Moorea Pearl- Bora Bora Thalasso)

Bora Bora was amazing and we had a great time. Thalasso was amazing, it was so gorgeous. The Sands restaurant had great burgers and Club sandwhiches (My fave). We would sit by the pool -have drinks and order a pizza. THe service is impeccable and the architect and design of the hotel is gorgeous.

After we left we went back to Papeete for 2 Nts and stood at the intercontinental again. Here we had a 2nd floor panoramic room. Its the same but, the deck seemed smaller, I preffered it on the 1st floor like when we first came to Tahiti. The reason was Thalasso was booke dwhen we wanted to add 2 more days, so we decided heck let stay in Papeete. And It was great, we ot out tatoos and unwind before goign back to NY. We also ate at the Belvedeere restaurant. Its a restaurant on the top of a mountain. If you can fit this during your time in Tahiti, I suggest you do it. The view is breathtaking, however the ride to the top of the mountain is freaking scary as hell.

We got Tatoos by Vetea.. in downtown Papeete. He was a real nice guy, very clean and professional. We both got Tiki guys for Protection.
