oh no! They called you during your ceremony? Well, that's classy AND professional

We're pretty much stuck with a Chinese bakery due to budgetary constraints (the joys of getting married during a recession and working for non-profits).

Sun Mary's pastries are delicious and the ladies who work there are sweeties, so I'm going in with fingers crossed (it's across the street from the library in Flushing - right after the supermarket on a side street).

by the way, lucamon - lovely wedding pics AND your dogs are adorable (can't resist ... must ... get.. my doggie.. a stylish hat)

Luckily it was during the tea ceremony at home. But still, I'm sure my dad didn't appreciate me yelling at the guy on my cell phone.
Yeah, tell me about the recession. DH got laid off 1 week before the wedding and it was awkward having his boss at the wedding.
My dog didn't actually wore a hat. It's photoshopped!
Good luck with your cake, sorry I can't help you out but at least you know what price to expect. I have to say they were pretty honest with me. I originally wanted only a 3 tier cake but she suggested a 4 tier. I thought she just wanted to make more money so I told her 4 is not a good number. Then she said in order to feed120 ppl, plus I wanted to take the top layer home, she said I have to go the extra tier. Thank god she talked me into it because we barely had enough cake for everyone. the slice were pretty small too.

Re: ***~OFFICIAL Chinese Brides Thread!~*** updated w/ dancing lesson info

Hi,

It's been a while since the last post of this thread and I would like to introduce myself as another fellow Chinese bride. FH and I wanted to have dinner with the parents after the civil ceremony at city hall which has know expanded to a wedding dinner party for 80 people...mostly his side. I just read a previous thread about skipping Table 4 when setting up for table arrangements...I never thought of doing that. I will be considering that now.

I'm having the dinner at Jade Asian, possibly ordering the cake from Yeh's Bakery, and booked with Istana for hair/makeup but open to other options.

Are you having your ceremony at city hall in Manhattan or in Flushing? I heard the flushing one is much nicer and it's only a short walk to Jade Asian. You should look into that.

I'm so happy to have seen this thread grow! Just wanted to update the Chinese Brides on the forum on how our wedding went because I realized I haven't done so!

Here's our official review

Here's our pictures on the knot

Here's 1/3 of ALL the professional pics. There were just too many - we got 3000 from our photographer which took forever to load so here's 838.

Enjoy!!!

i've seen most of my friends use the regular sharpie. we made our own guestbooks on kodakgallery and picaboo and bought the fine sharpies which were great!

Re: *~*~*~OFFICIAL Chinese Brides Thread~*~*~*

Do the sharpers bleed or turn brown after awhile? Some suggested a fabric marker.

Re: *~*~*~OFFICIAL Chinese Brides Thread~*~*~*

hmmm... the signings in my guestbook haven't turned brown but i'm not sure what'll happen if you use sharpies on fabric. i can conceptually picture that happening and it was the fear of bleeding that made me just go with a guestbook. you can potentially try testing out sharpies on spare fabric if you have any? maybe some of the other gals who used a signing fabric can help out
