yes, I know.. thank you very much! My Fiance jokes around with me that I find friends online. I do feel that people who are getting married or went through the planning stage will understand alot more about the stress from wedding. Sweetie! thanks!

That is my BIGGEST peeve! foundation making your face whiter than the rest of your body. This bothers me sooooooooooo much, which is why I have avoided the korean make up artists.
Many Koreans use this makeup base that makes your face pasty white. THEN they put this twin cake powder that adds a little color but your face is still a different color.
I think only Korean people use this make up base.
I was really satisfied with my make up trial with Coco at Eternal Wedding. She was fantastic. I am just frustrated that they are located in Flushing. It will be very inconvenient for me to go there.
I had a trial with Sachiko as well. She was sooooooooooo nice. I loved the way she did my hair. Unfortunately, I liked the way Coco did my make up better.
I would recommend you to check out both these ladies.
Haha, you're so right, though I think the Chinese also does it. I would have liked to get my makeup at the wedding box as well, but it was just too far from Manhattan. At Kakabuka I was just absolutely insistent that the white pasty stuff is not getting anywhere near my face, and the Laura Mercier foundation I bought was amazing, so thankfully I didn't get the the geisha face. The makeup artist was really amazing with the eyes, this is really important since my two eyes are drastically different size, so that's why I ended up going with them.

I also went to 2 non-asian make up trials. They were TERRIBLE with Asian eyes but made my skin look flawless. My friends have also recommended Salon Shin. Supposedly they are great with Asian-Americans. You may want to check them out.

Frankly, I do have problems with my bridesmaids. I don't mind if I need to pay for everything. But they are totally not helpful, not to mention about actual planning. They can't even give me emotional supports. One girl dares to ask me if I change my wedding date for her because she wants to travel. Then, after I ask her to a bit research online, she would tell me that it's not bridesmaid's responsibility to plan the wedding. I am like... what is this? I do hurt when I heard about it because we are supposed to be a very closed friends (I met her since Freshman year in college). Am I retarded to ask her to be my maid of honor and getting myself into more troubles and stress?????
Don't worry too much about it. I find that in the end it's easier to do everything myself (I'm such a control freak), and it's better to not ask for help unless you're sure that you'll like the help you're getting. If they come up with an idea that you don't like, you're put in the difficult position of worrying about offending them if you tell them.

Yes, I learned my lesson. I am very suprised that my BM does not like the fact that I told her what to help out. Then, she turned around and told people that I am a control freak! I may not be sensitive enough about how she feels but we are good friends and I do expect her to have open discussion with me, not going around and spread the words. The whole planning makes me realized that whom are my true friends and who are not. Sometimes, it's very hurtful to realize it.

A wedding can bring friends closer together or further apart.I tried to play devil's advocate. I think the girls who aren't as involved are going through relationship issues right now.
It's probably hard for them to jump up and down and be happy for me when their personal lives are so uncertain.

Yes, I do sound bitter! My new approach is that I will try to do as much as possible myself. I won't rely on any of them unless they offer to help. I will cover everything for them (Frankly, they all works in Investmen Bank and I can tell you that they all make at least 100K). When I tried to discuss with her my expection about BM, then she told me that this is a job/ contract. You should not tell me what I need to do. Honestly, I just want to plan my own schedule better. I don't know what to say now... I don't mind paying for all their expenses if they are being helpful and my true friends. But in this case, I really question if I should pay $600 (all the costs) to ask someone just standing next to me and she does not even care about my wedding???? Perhaps, choosing Palm House is better because I dont' need to reply on anyone.

Can you guys recommend gifts to buy my FMIL for her birthday? It's coming up in a few weeks.Help me win some brownie points.
I almost cancelled the wedding bc we had an entire war about the stupid wedding date.
I am STILL upset about the whole wedding date thing but I realized that I will let the stubborn woman win this battle.

Oh, that's a touge one... Is she very traditional Chinese? In general, older generation ladies may like gen stones (the green ones)

What is she like -- any interest, hobbies? If not then jewelry is always safe. For my mom's birthday I'm going to buy her some Indian 22k gold jewelry -- the workmanship is exquisite, and they're sold at close to gold price, which should please all the traditional Chinese ladies who like their jewelry to keep their value.

Well, everyone's taste is different, though it's true that the older generation does generally like gold. If she's very traditional then you won't go wrong. I wasn't a fan of gold, in fact I always thought they were tacky, until I went an Indian jewelry store, and the workmaship is so beautiful I was completely converted. If you're in LI check out the stores along Hickville's main street, and in queens Jackson Heights.

OMG! Did invite my bridesmaid into your wedding party! You description of your bridesmaid makes me think we used the same one! My BM thinks I'm a bridezilla when she's the one who has made tons of demands on me and judges me at every turn! Sooo annoying! And she goes behind my back and talks about me to my family when she's the one who's difificult!
Since yours is not a relative, ditch her if you have so much trouble. Honestly, they are not worth keeping around. I had to deal with my bad BM up to the day b4 the wedding and it was so stressful. All my other BM got to a point where they don't even want to deal with her anymore!
Good luck! I'll dig up the contact info for you for Sachiko, Reiko and Sissy....

Why are you trying to please this woman who made you change your wedding date? Honestly, you sound so nice! I would be so upset I'll tell her off, then elope somewhere so she doesnt get the satisfaction of seeing her son get married. ;)
Sorry, I get bitter when I hear about FMIL who dont treat their FDIL with respect. This happens so often it's not even funny!

hcl200,Here are a couple of Asian makeup artists who also do hair, they all range in price from $500-600 for hair/makeup for bride and 3 girls. Their rates are definitely better than the vendors here. Sachiko offers a free trial in her price:

eden,Thank you very much for your information! I feel like you are my bridesmaid more than anyone of them... Gosh.. You are very very sweet!
I am suprised that the price is only 500 - 600 for brides and 3 girls. I checked with Wedding Box, they quotes me for 1-1.5K.
