Everyday Jewelry on Wedding Day

Is anyone else wearing their everyday jewelry on their wedding day? FH bought me a diamond pendant necklace and stud earrings that I love and wear everyday. I keep looking at the fancy occassion jewelry sets but really just want to wear my own things. They are simple but very pretty. And more 'me' than anything else I see. Anyone else feel this way?

I am wearing something new, but I don't think it matters. Wear what you love.

Re: Everyday Jewelry on Wedding Day

I would wear something that I wear as my everyday if I had a pendant necklace to go with my dress. I have a lot of jewelry but nothing like a diamond pendant. And, can you believe, that is what will probably be going best with my dress? Something as simple as a diamond pendant. Thank God my mom has two diamonds which each were my grandmother and great grandmothers. i probably will be making one of their diamonds into a diamond pendant necklace for myself that day to wear. I won't have to go purchase one now. (That will be my something borrowed too).

I think it will be fine if you wear that. Sounds very simple and elegant.

Re: Everyday Jewelry on Wedding Day

my mother had a pendant made for me - it's bagettes from my grandmother's engagement ring (she passed away) and a pearl from the first ring my dad ever gave my mom. she had the same thing made for my sister. i wear it EVERYDAY and i will be wearing it at the wedding as well. if you love a piece of jewlery - wear it. it doesn't have to be new, just special to you.

Re: Everyday Jewelry on Wedding Day

Just wanted to chime in and agree with everyone else - this is YOUR day, you wear what you love and know you look pretty in. Besides, for 'everyday' jewelry, it sounds very lovely and elegant anyway!

Re: Everyday Jewelry on Wedding Day

well my day is still far but so far i feel the same way
FH bought me a diamond cross before we got engaged ( actually only about 4 days before!) and I really would love to wear a cross on my wedding day - to me, it would have more meaning than just buying jewelry for that day. . . for earrings i want to keep it simple so my diamond earrings ( that FH also bought for me) are perfect for that. . . . so, so far I will be wearing my every day jewelry on the big day. . . . when i get my ring cleaned I will have those pieces cleaned too and I wont wear them after that until the day of. . . i was thinking of not wearing the jewelry so it wont get all dirty - but i wear my cross every day and it wouldnt feel right not to!

Re: Everyday Jewelry on Wedding Day

Wear what means the most to you! I think it's a very nice idea, and if you're comfortable, that's the most important thing on your big day, plus the jewlery has meaning to you to! Unless you find something you fall in love with, I'd go with your favorites!

On my wedding day, I had bought a bracelet to wear (a cheapie), and totally forgot to wear it. I have a bracelet that DH gave me probably 5 years ago, that I never take off. It's from Tiffany's, but it's silver and not terribly dressy. I was a little bummed that I fogot to take it off at first because it didn't really 'go', but now I look back and I'm happy I wore it- it's from him, after all

I wore a diamond cross on our wedding day - I've worn it for years....decided it wouldn't be the same without it that day too.

I think I am going to wear the earrings FH gave me that I wear everyday, but I might find a different necklace.

Re: Everyday Jewelry on Wedding Day

Thanks ladies! I felt bad about not buying something fancier and new. I think I am going to wear the necklace and earrings from FH and buy a new matching bracelet.

FH will be thrilled to see me walking down the isle in the jewerly he bought and picked out for me. I really can't imagine wearing anything else!

Re: Everyday Jewelry on Wedding Day

I want it to look like my everyday jewelry. My Uncle brought me a pair of pearl earrings back from Hong Kong that I want to wear so I need a necklace to go with it.

Re: Everyday Jewelry on Wedding Day

Until FH gave me a gorgeous set of earrings and matching necklace for my b-day last week I was wearing everyday jewelry for my wedding day. Not that the pearls he just gave me won't become everyday jewelry after the wedding.
