No. I only had a 13 month engagement and did most of my booking at the 8 month mark.

Re: am i cutting it close???
OK IMO, I would not wait on booking the major vendors (Photo/Video, DJ/Band). As you can see from being on here, vendors book way before a year in advance. If there are certain vendors you know you want, I would lock it in now or at least start to look around.I was reading some of the 08' board and those girls are booking vendors already left and right.
You don't want to leave yourself settling for someone because you could not get who you really wanted.
You can defiantly plan a wedding in less then a year, just saying that the more popular vendors book up fast

Re: am i cutting it close???
I think you are fine!!!
I guess the only thing that would really matter is that some vendors will raise their prices in 07 so you wont' get the 06 pricing........ not sure how many actually do that, but I've heard of it happening........so that's one thing to ask your vendors when you are talking to them, just to be sure

Don't feel so bad I really don't have much more than you done and I am a month before you. I hope we are not in trouble. This month I am determined to get a lot done. I need a dj and video.

Re: am i cutting it close???
I think you need to start booking the major things as soon as you can - not because you HAVE to but because you may miss out on some of the more popular vendors because they book up early

Re: am i cutting it close???
hey former date twin...I would definitely start to book your major vendors. While you can plan a wedding in a year, like many girls have said, you might not get the vendors you had originally wanted. My sister got engaged in August of 04 and got married in July of 05. It probably can be done in even shorter amount of time - just not what I would want to do.

Re: am i cutting it close???
If you can book you major vendors before New Years you will get a break on prices and possibly availability. Whatever you do definitely booked before Valentine’s Day because that's when places and vendors start booking up really fast because of all the new engagements

Re: am i cutting it close???
I think you are fine. I'd do the DJ and Photographer this month. The Florist and Limo's can wait. My cousin owns a florist and they do like 6 weddings a weekend during their busy seasons. And it's not like it is prom season that you will have to worry about getting limo's. I'd take care of the vendors that have a limited number of affairs they can do a day.

Re: am i cutting it close???
I think you'll be fine but you should stop panicing and just start going to appointments. The only way you'll feel better (even if everyone on this board reassures you) is when you start getting things done. So get to it
I booked most of my vendors in the 8-10 month range.

Truth is you will actually get better prices the longer you wait. Vendors become VERY flexible the closer in you are. But to Bari's point, a lot of the more popular vendors will be/get booked. If you don't have your heart set on a specific vendor you can wait a little while.

Re: am i cutting it close???
I think you are fine, don't rush things either.Do the major things first. If you have your eye on a certain photog or DJ/Band, book that first. Because I found those def book the quickest.
It's true the closer you wait you get a better deal.
My cousin planned a wedding in like 4 months, and she got the Watermill on a Friday night for like $65 a head Including tax & grat!!!
