Making a gown into curtains or baby's comforter

Has anyone done this or know anything about where to get this done?

Re: Making a gown into curtains or baby's comforter

I know of women who use their trains to create christening gowns/suits for their children. I would do something like that if I werent Jewish.

We're actually contemplating doing this when our child is born.

Re: Making a gown into curtains or baby's comforter

I just feel like having it in a box serves no purpose. I would rather look at it each day then have it sit in my attic.

Re: Making a gown into curtains or baby's comforter

I thought I would cut my train and have it made into the Christening gown as well... however I kinda felt like it was too soon .. so I am using an heirloom gown...
I say if you are ok with it and then do it!!!

Re: Making a gown into curtains or baby's comforter

I had a layer of fabric that was cut under the organza overlay. I am going to use that fabric for my baby's christening outfit when we have a baby

I agree! My sister used hers for a christening gown and I thought that was such a great idea.

Re: Making a gown into curtains or baby's comforter

I think it is a nice idea to make it into a christening gown., However, my lil girl will be wearing the cristening gown that me and my sister wore when we were baptised. My dress will remain intact

Re: Making a gown into curtains or baby's comforter

My baby's christening gown was made from the slip of my Great-grandmother's wedding gown. It's over 100 years old. 13 of us have worn it over 4 generations. It's so special to us that I think it would be a wonderful idea if someone were to do it with their gown now.
