My DIY card box with pic......EDITED....Need to ask you something

OKay today I did my card box.....
Here is the finished product....No major catastrophies with me using a glue gun (except for getting what feels like a 3rd degree burn on my pointer finger right where it bends) and a staple in my boobie....yes you read that right (dont ask)

SO Im planning to have FH put a little lock on it and Im debating on if I should put some wine-ish color ribbon around the card slot maybe to add just a lil color?

Thoughts?

*******ETA.........last night I was thinking of maybe putting crystals around the slot on the top? Anyone have any opinions on doing that or should I leave it as is?

Re: My DIY card box with pic

you did a great job!!!!

sorry to hear about the burn and the staple

i love the fabric you chose!!!!

the only thing i'm going to say about adding the ribbon is PLEASE BE CAREFUL. that's the one place people will notice the most as they put the envelope in. not only do you want it to look 'perfect' in that spot, you also want it to be VERY sturdy. since that spot will get all the 'action', you want the ribbon to not move in any way.

now i know who to call when i'm ready to re-upholster my chairs

Re: My DIY card box with pic

Nice... I love colors so I would opt for you putting the wine ribbon. However, you can try placing the ribbon around the side to possibly hide the opening. It may give a more decorative feel and besides, no one may try to open it.

I think it looks awesome!!! I agree with Libby but I do think a punch of color would be nice... What about a wine-colored bow (wide ribbon) on the top left corner of the box? Or wrapping a wine-colored ribbon around the top of the bottom part? Like where the lid meets the box? Does that make sense?

I think it looks really great though! You're such a crafty bride!!!!

FH told me a billion times how to hold the damn staple gun (its like some new fangled powerful sucker that to be honest scared the cr@p out of me everytime I had to use it).
SO...........
I was leaning my body against the box so that it wouldnt move when I stapled it and pulled the trigger and BAM....................OUCH my boobie.
I shook my head and was like a staple in boobie....WHO CAN SAY THEY DID THAT.
So I took it out went to the bathroom slapped a band-aid on it and went back to work.
Only Me!!!

I love it. I would stay away from the stones around the slot and try the wine ribbon.

WOW you did a great job! I love it. Sorry you got a little hurt, but you really put your all into making this. LOL!

I put some 'cording' on mine. I believe you find it where the ribbon is. Here's mine. More pics in my DIY album.

ditto, like another LIW bride said, when people put cards in it might mess it up so to speak....
