For all you school wedding planning girls
OK...well I am planning on getting married in May of 2009- Memorial Day weekend hopefully. FH and I decided that date because of several reasons:1. He is in the Marine Corps and doesnt get out until July 2008 and then have almost a year after that to help plan with me.
2. I will (hopefully) be just graduating from Grad School
3. FH doesnt want a winter wedding- and I kinda dont either, we both like the idea of a spring wedding
However, I like the idea of also doing a wedding around Columbus Day or the weekend of Thanksgiving. BUT....I am worried about school...cause if I did it either or those weekends it would be of 2008. A couple months earlier- which hey I dont mind I wanna freaking be his wife and be allowed to live with him (well according to my mom hehe)!! But we dont have a long Thanksgiving break from school and I want to do a honeymoon right after we wed....Then will I have to worry about missing to GRAD SCHOOL courses (since they are more intense than just missing 1 or 2 undergrad courses)???
WHAT DO I DO??? hehe

Re: For all you school wedding planning girls
My friends who are teachers got married Columbus Day weekend and they went on their HM Christmas break.I also wanted to go on my HM right after the wedding but I just cant afford a summer wedding so I gave up on that idea. Now, Im having the wedding beginning of April and we will go on the HM during Spring Break.
Its so hard to plan it in advance because you never know exactly when all the school breaks will be.

Re: For all you school wedding planning girls
I agree with you about wanting to go on the HM right after the wedding but sometimes it is not possible and it does suck. I am a teacher and we are getting married March 28 2009, I wont be able to go on my honeymoon until 2 weeks later during spring break. As long as you are married and are home together you are going to be so happy! You can go as soon as classes end and will have no stress to worry about! You can enjoy your honeymoon with your new husband! I hope this helped!

We might be changing our date to March 28! The prices are so much cheaper than our April date....even tho its only a week away lol
And we are doing the same thing with the HM.

Re: For all you school wedding planning girls
That is a good idea- to have your honeymoon on spring break!! I mentioned it to FH last night. He said he is up for any month besides Dec. and Jan. and July and August. SO we have a lot of months to work with
But which one
I love the idea of a May wedding- most likely memorial day weekend on that Sun night before Memorial Day (however I am nervous it will be hard to find a place that is a common weekend and it still might be expensive even on a Sun). I also would like it in March or Beginning of April because Spring Break is right around that time.
I would do it Columbus Day weekend as well- however I dont want to have to wait 3 months to have a honeymoon (during winter break) I know I am picky hehe
Hopefully I will figure it out by the time we go looking at RH- which is June when FH takes leave and comes home!!

I would go for the end of March because it is sooo cheap!! And then go on the HM about 2 weeks later!
Just if you do that, make sure you go on the HM to a couples only place like Sandals so you avoid all the Spring Breakers!!!!

Re: For all you school wedding planning girls
That is a smart idea. I like the couples only resorts. They are inclusive and you dont have to worry about spring breakers and kids with their parents
I am definitely going to speak with FH about that this weekend and see what he thinks about it. Then I will just have to check if I can when spring break would be that year...

Re: For all you school wedding planning girls
Honestly I did not have a date picked. I looked at the hall I loved first and when I saw it I knew it was the one. I sat down with my Banquet Manager and he gave me the available dates for the beginning of 2009 and explained to me the difference in prices. I chose March 28, and got it for $100 pp, for April 25th or the end of April, it would have gone up to $115 pp. That is how I chose my date hahaha. Silly I know but it was very easy.
