from an 07er... Pre-wedding & HM vacation time question

Hi 06ers! Need some feedback-

I have to talk to my boss about vacation time and I have NO IDEA realistically how much time I will need to take off...

We are planning on having a 2 week HM, so that's self explanitory. But how much time do I ACTUALLY need to take off prior to the wedding day? I'm certain that I will need atleast the day before, but how many things will I have to do last minute?

I am getting married on Friday the 13th of July

I got married on a Saturday and took the Thursday & Friday before.

I got married the same Saturday as Beans. I took off a day and a half; Thursday afternoon and Friday.

I got married on the Saturday after Thanksgiving, so I was off on Thursday and Friday because my job was closed. Thursday was Thanksgiving so I did not do anything for the wedding, and Friday all I really did was get my nails done and go to bed early. If you ask me, I think you really only need to take the day before off.

i got married on a sunday and i took the thurs a fri off. if you can swing taking it, it's worth it - get your mani/pedi, a massage - take some time to just take it all in and relax

i also got married on a saturday and took the thursday and fri before.

thursday was our RD and we had to drop off all the stuff to the hall, make the final payment, and make final payment to our photographer, wrap BP gifts - it was a crazy day.

friday - was a total prep day - got nails done, got ring cleaned, went shopping for HM, packed bag for wedding day, etc.

also - the day AFTER my wedding was just as crazy as the day before - i would suggest if possible not to leave the next day for your HM.

Thanks girls! I assumed that people took DAYS AND DAYS off before the wedding

I got married on a Saturday and I took off the Thursday and Friday before the wedding....I wish I had taken the entire week. Too many people were grabbing me at the office for things that I never had a chance to complete my work, or make certain phone calls during the day.

I didnt get an insane amount of time, but I still had about 2 1/2 weeks off during the whole pre-wedding and Hm process. but we all know what happened the day i got back from my hm, now dont we!
anyway, i got married on friday 7-7. and my last day was wed 7-5/ i worked half a day, then left to go get my nails done, pedicure, while my mother helped bu picking up my dress and last minuet stuff. thursdays was a relaxing day until night time, and it will be def easier for you, cause u dont live with dan yet, so to get EVERYTHINg that i needed for that night, the next morning, ,and the wedding night, b/c i lived with mike be4 marrage, it was hard. u dont have to go thru that, so it saves more time!
i would honestly just approach ur boss as soon as u get ur dates finalized (did u book yet) and if anything - i would go in for wednesday, even if its for a 1/2 a day. do u know when ur having ur RD yet? thats a big thing too. . . cause you'll either want to take off that day or leave early. . . so i would get all the dats straight with dan and stuff, and after the Hm [especiall] is booked, I would go over to ur boss in the nicest way and talk to him. or i woild alt least have a date frame in mine like 'i'l; be out from this date to this date' and twll him its tentive and could change, that is if u atleasy want to get it over with.
If ur going to Hawaii for 2 weeks, you will most likely be out of work 3 weeks to recooperate and whatnot, b/c they;ll be a big time difference. . . or maybe even 2 1/2 weeks, they shouldnt have a problem w/ it and IF they do, quit after ur HM and look for another job b/c it wont be worth it. they have to understand that is UR wedding and UR HM and it only happens once! im sure they wont give u a problem. my job did, but it didnt matter b/c the end result is i didnt work there after the HM.
def give them a heads up tho. maybe they might need to get a temp in there 4 that time?

I got married on Friday & had our RD on Wednesday night. So I took off Wednesday, Thursday before the wedding & a half of day on the Tuesday before.

We didn't leave for our HM until the Thursday after the wedding, but I took the time off & was off for a complete 3 weeks. I did go right back to work though!

I got married on a Saturday and took a half a day Weds and then the Thur-Fri off and then the Mon-Wed off following since we didn't leave for HM for 2 months.

It really all depends on how much you need to get done. I was fine until the day before which got busy.
