My Baby Shower was yesterday!

and BOY did they surprise me !! (I thought I was the pro by now, and that I would have a hunch by the time my shower rolled around, but once again, they threw me off, and i had NOOO CLUEEE !!)

I'll try to sum up my day...'long story short' version... and that still means it will be a little long, this is someone that CANT make a long story short!


DH and I went by the Nissequogue River at 9am, just to walk around and enjoy the fresh morning air. I love walking so we walked for well over 2hours, sat down and ate breakfast on a bench, took some pictures, (hey i wasnt 'born and bred' on LI, so i LOVE living so close to all of mother natures BEST spots!) then I mentioned i wanted to pick up some things, and we went to a few stores, then to drop off books at the library, then 'my sister called' and she was at IKEA, and 'was gonna pass by' my house (She lives in Queens) but since she caught us on the cell phone, and we were out, she goes 'ahh, another day, youre not home, finish what youre doing'...but she knows i'll stop THE WORLD to see my nieces any day (and her of course!) so i said 'NO NO we'll head home right now, meet ya at my house in half hour, and we'll go out for lunch' DEAL... Then DH had to stall me for 15 more minutes, and he knew i was famished, so we stopped for a slice of pizza to hold me over...(hey by the time we got somewhere and ordered, another hour and 1/2 could go by !!)

Well, Our neighbors just moved in, so as we were driving up to our house, i was looking at the house next door, and noting how much work they've done (they closed on the house 2 weeks ago, and they have been doing SO MUCH every weekend, cleaning up like CRAZY !) so i was looking at THEIR HOUSE, and all of a sudden, a CROWD of people on my front lawn caught my eye, and i go 'who are all those people in front of our house ???' and it was all my closest friends holding up signs that read 'SURPRISE IT'S YOUR BABY SHOWER !!' I was totally floored !! I was speechless for a good 15 minutes as I walked around kissing everyone. My sis got to my house half hour after we left the house to decorate, set up the food, etc. About 4-5 people made trays and trays of food : mom, sis, her DH and my SIL's) My great room was all decorated with clotheslines and baby clothes hanging all over the room... It was so nice, of course it FLEW by, i felt like people were leaving before I got a chance to chat with them !
(I hate to sound ungrateful, but isnt there always those few that 'have to run' every single time ??? That is my pet peeve and something I NEVER EVER DO, sis and I are the types that are there cleaning up with you at the end !)

I have to say, alot did go into the planning. I give everyone alot of credit and appreciation for everything they did... My sis so much as went to the point of buying the thank you cards, addressing them (To and FROM) and I just have to write them and drop em in the box!) We are twins, but she is by far my Superwoman ! She has 3 kids 3 and under and you would think she was single and home all day with time to herself. She ceases to amaze me in life (just thought i'd add those mushy words ) There I go babbling on a tangent again....

I always thought it would be wonderfully special to be a twin... now I am sure! What a great sister you have.

I have to say being a twin is amazing... only a twin can understand.... dont get me started on the twin talk !!! .

PS-Jenn, our mutual friend was invited to my shower and my sis never heard back... maybe she doesnt even live there anymore

I'm sorry. I know they are having a rough time... please don't take it personally. I know it stinks not to have a person you care about at your shower though.

NO, no, not taken personally at all. I hope things work out for them... as long as we've known them, theyve always been great people, both of them.

I figured you'd understand. And you're right.. they are great, and even the best fall on hard times. My heart hurts for them.

What a wonderful surprise! Your shower sounded so lovely - your sister is a very special person, and you are one lucky Mom-to-be.

Glad you had a great day! Enjoy preparing all the new stuff for the baby's arrival. You're in the home stretch!

Congratulations!!! What fun a baby shower is -- yeah, our bridal shower was fun, but baby gifts are sooo much cuter and a lot more fun to give and get!!!! You look adorable pregnant!! Maybe you'll have your baby on my first anniversary -- Oct. 6. But if you go on your actual due date, which I think you said was Oct. 3, then that's the 4th anniversary of my first date with my hubby!! (Useless info you didn't need, but I felt the urge to share!! LOL )
