Taking Wedding Pics Twice?????
OK, my RH has beautiful gardens where you can take alot of pics but I also want to go to another place to take pics before we head to the RH. I want to take pics at the Old Westbury Gardens, which I heard are magnificant. I have passed by there many times but never been in, but I have seen past brides pics there and they are amazing. But I believe on their web site they are charging to take pics there and they have many rules and regulations, such as no intoxicated people allowed in the gardens, hahahaha, its a wedding, anyways, is there anyone else taking pics there or taking pics somewhere else and your RH?? Is it stupid to take pics at the Gardens when they charge you for it and take pics in the gardens of my RH??

Re: Taking Wedding Pics Twice?????
A lot of girls do this. Take pics at a location other than their rental hall and then take pictures at their rental hall. Check with your photographer, some of them charge to go to a few locations.

I am planning to do the same...Plus you would go to westbury gardens after the ceremony so people wont really be drunk yet.

Re: Taking Wedding Pics Twice?????
i dont think it is stupid...if you do some searches on here you will find amazing pics from old westbury gardens. plus...it is not too far from your RH so you are not really going out of your way. i am trying to figure out if i would have time to go their in the AM. i know it may be $ but to me, that might be worth it b/c i will have the pictures to look at the rest of my life!

Yeah I want to take e-pics here, maybe e-pics at the OWG also or at the beach here and when I go to Greece in the summer. When you go on vacation and take your pics there, are you going to do it yourself or are you going to hire someone??

Re: Taking Wedding Pics Twice?????
i think its a great idea and very common - if i wasnt having a winter wedding i would consider squeezing it into the budget - but i refuse to make my BP freeze their tooshies off just for my pics!

Re: Taking Wedding Pics Twice?????
we are stopping by a beach next to fh's house and the church before we head out to our reception to take pics.
if you check out the place and really love it and want the scenery or something different...then go for it.

Re: Taking Wedding Pics Twice?????
I'm also a WM bride and we are taking pictures at OWG and WM. I felt silly at first since WM has beautiful grounds and it's costing us $400 to take pictures at OWG. The reason I did this is because WM's vendor policy states that their house photographers have designated photo areas, so certain areas of WM may be off limits if you're not using their house photographer. We're not using one of their photographers and we don't want to be limited to where we can take pics. For peace of mind we booked OWG. Also god forbid it rains, you can take pics inside of the mansion at OWG. I know there are other places with beautiful grounds that are less expensive or no charge at all, but OWG is so close and convenient to WM and it is absolutely gorgeous. I hope this helps you because I felt the same way you do.

Thanks so much for this info, I feel sooo much better now that you told me. I didnt know that some of WM phototaking areas are off limits if you book with another vendor other than WM vendors, WOW ok that is good to know. I have not started looking around for photo yet so I dont know much. Yeah I am going to take pics at OWG as well as WM, I know isnt the OWG just amazing and I have seen pics of the inside and the gardens ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. I wish they did wedding receptions ther. Thanks so much. PS - have you visited the offical WM 08 thread, its awesome

Re: Taking Wedding Pics Twice?????
we are most likely taking pics at westbury gardens and then pics at our place. i think they charge a little too much, but i think it's worth it. the gardens are SO pretty, and as pretty as your RH is, there are only so many spots for photos. i think it's nice to have a variety.
