Re: Help - Baby Girl names
I think Ryan is beautiful for a girl. I personally prefer Lauren over Laura, and I think Elizabeth is a nice middle name for either Laura or Lauren.

Re: Help - Baby Girl names
I am laughing at what you said about your DH thinking Laura rhymes with Explorer.
I think it only sounds that way if you pronounce it like a Long Islander, by dropping your 'R's. ...as in 'Explorah'
No offense meant here, I just thought that was cute.
My SIL's name is Laura Danielle, so I am partial to that combination.

Re: Help - Baby Girl names
Its funny that you said Laura and Explorer, I'm surprised he didnt name the car 'Laura the Explorah' LOL. Anyway it reminded me of me, I call my car Luke ! I LOVE the name Luke and at the time I bought it, wasnt thinking of baby names, so that was my baby at the time ! and now I feel bad if i ever wanna use it for my childs name, cuz its my cars 'name' HAH. Luke John is really nice. I love Luke, Lucas, Luca, and especially Luciano. I also did the 'boys name for a girl' in that, if I have a girl, I chose Luciana Alessandra - just made Luciano feminine. We chose John Anthony for a boy. DH's name is John, and I LOVE the name Anthony.
Question, just wondering, since I always get the question 'are you going to hyphenate it ?' since I want him to be called just that 'John Anthony' but i dont want to put a dash in the name, I just dont like dashes in names ! Do you get that question ? or do you just plan to call him Luke if its a boy ? (and have John as just the middle name, not used in everyday life).
Back to your girl names, I like Lauren also. how about Lauren Daniela or Lauren Danielle. or Laura Danielle. Ryan is really cute for a girl too.
Ryan Danielle ?
You'll think of it at the last minute, some people just yell it out after the baby is born, whatever comes to them. lol.
Good luck !

Elizabeth, here are some websites for you to browse through when you get the chance. I have 3 very close friends who are pregnant (2 of which, surprisingly, are due on my 30th birthday!!
) and they have been talking names like crazy! It's been a lot of fun discussing possibilities and looking through these sites with them. I hope you enjoy them too!

Re: Help - Baby Girl names
To all mothers to be out there, and even if youre not prego, and will be one day SOOONNN,
be prepared its SOOOO ANNOYINGGGG when you tell someone a name you chose and they say 'so what will you call him/her ?'
UHMMMM, by the name I just told you !!!!!!!!!!!!
I guess some moms are prepared to call the baby something different like initials TJ or AJ, or Jack will be called John, but even as far as shortened names, they'll ask so what will you have as a nickname (lets say for Luciana), LU ? LUCI ? as if I have to change my mind quick before someone thinks up a horrid nickname ! Why is it so hard for people to pronouce some names, exapnd your horizons past one syllable ! I figure some kids go through phases where they like nicknames for themselves and thats their perogatives, it doesnt matter to me ! I have a friend who went from her name Anastasia, to Stacey, and now its back to Anastasia. My sis Lucia, really goes by Lucy, but in the past few years, has used Lucia on most of her things...
and then i get 'but people will call him john, not John Anthony' (OH WELL GOOD FOR THEM !)
sorry to vent

JohnAnthony
Jenn do they hyphenate it ? (im sure you probably dont know, but do any parents really do that, in general based on your students names that are 2 names-if any!) Just curious. as a teacher would you know to call a kid by both names if theres no dash ?? I refuse to put a dash, LOL, and scar my kid with a dash...... and then again AnnaMaria or AnneMarie are spelled as one name, but JohnAnthony cant be squshed into a compound name, lol...
ok this is getting complicated. LOL.

Re: JohnAnthony
Thanks everyone!!!! I must say that you are all more forward thinkers than alot of people I encounter when it comes to the name Ryan, people can be so...close-minded sometimes. You've definitely given me some more food for thought, I like some of the suggestions alot. At this moment, I like Ryan Danielle alot, more than my original Christine as a middle name. Her initals would be RDH which is nice.Anna- If it's a boy, Luke John will be his first and middle names but we will call him Luke. I probably wouldn't hyphenate John Anthony either. This way it's optional if you want to use the whole name or not. My nephew is John Nicholas (no hyphen) and for the longest time, everyone called him John Nicholas (I think he was named after his godfather). In the past year or so, his Mom has dropped the Nicholas from everyday use (I guess mainly b/c she named her 3rd child Nicholas-he was also named after his godfather-they're Greek Orthodox and I think (?) that's how it works) ANYWAY....without an official hyphen, it's not as much of a questionable thing. People do like to give nicknames, maybe it's human nature to want to come up with something shorter, quicker, less formal? Hardly anyone calls me Elizabeth. I like it alot actually but I've been Liz to people for so long (which I also like). I started using 'Elizabeth' on this board b/c when I first came on there was a Liz already posting here.
LOL ladies about the 'Explorah'...DH does have more of a NY accent than I do but he does manage the keep the 'R' at the end He's a bit more partial to Laura than Ryan so that's part of his defense for wanting Laura - that it rhymes the car! Becky-he already named the car Dora (I guess he's thinking in kiddie mode more too these days)
JennRenee - thanks for the site, we went through so many names already, trying them out - some that he liked that I didn't and vice versa were quite funny. His separate taste vs. mine was kind of comical until we started to find middle ground. There were alot of 'No Way!' and 'I Don't Think So!' comments exchanged.
Thank you again everyone!!!! and thanks for letting me ramble. I've been home on bedrest this week so I think my brain has needed some stimulation other than Judge Judy LOL!!!!!!

Re: JohnAnthony
Elizabeth ~ you mentioned bed rest... I hope everything is okay!Anna, JohnAnthony's name is spelled just like that, with no space, and that's what they call him. His mom has a COW because the daycare people call him Johnny!
As for children in my class, I send nametags home prior to the first day of school with the child's name that he was registered with. In my note, I ask that the parents write the name that the child uses on a day to day basis underneath (I'm sensitive to this because my Dad's legal name is Pellegrino, but has always been called, and prefers Benny
). If there is no 'write in' the child gets called what is on the tag. I would hate to shorten a child's name to something the parents hate (like my mom always hated when teachers called me Jenny... don't want to annoy the parents!
). Actually, a few years ago I had a little boy named Sylvester in my class, and on the first day of school I said 'Hi Sylvester! That's a great name! What does Mommy call you?' He looked at my like I had lost my mind and said 'Sylvester!?' Needless to say, I don't ask anymore!
