Photographer problem (a little bit long, sorry)
We met with our photographer/videographer on Saturday, February 3. We ended up calling him only three days later to book. Since I live about 40 minutes away from the office, he said i could give a deposit over the phone with a credit card, He said he would mail us the contract, we would sign it, and then mail it back to him. After a few weeks, when i didn't have a contract yet, i emailed, to make sure, and he said he was on top of it.
Two more weeks pass, and still no contract, so FH calls and leaves a message for the photog to get back to us a soon as possible. FH calls again three days later because the call was still not returned. The photographer says they have been really busy lately, but will be sending out the contract as soon as possible.
So today, a week later from that final call, we still have no contract.
Is this a bad sign of things to come? The photographer is a known, reputable company and I love their work. They were really the only ones we met with, but we just loved the package they gave us and all the pics we have seen by them. FH is FLIPPING OUT and saying that he is going to call and cancel since we still have not even signed a contract, but I am really upset because of how much i was set on them. They are also a recommended vendor of our reception hall, which made me love them even more because they would eat free
What do i do???!!! Cancel now, let him know we want to cancel, wait it out some more, any other ideas??

Kristin has a great point, its one thing they just haven't sent the contract, which isn't right but more importantly make sure they booked your date...You don't want them to turn around and say oh sorry there was a mistake and we booked another wedding on your date.
I understand being busy but you want to have good communication with your vendors.

Re: Photographer problem (a little bit long, sorry)
If i were you i think i would cancel with them because it would make me very nervous that they still havent sent you the contracts. Seems like this has been going on for weeks and not for nothing but they know how to charge your card for the deposit but they cant simply mail out a contract. Honestly pics are one of the most important and expensive things for the wedding and if they cant mail out a contract and its been weeks i would be very nervous and not want to deal with them.

I would cancel - that's just bad business practice.Did he charge your card as well? If he did, I would definitely cancel!!!!!!
To me, this is just a sign of things to come. I mean, if this photographer is too busy to send you a contract, imagine when it comes time for thank yous, proofs, album, video.
Sorry to spook you more but when things are time-sensitive (i.e. thank you cards), you want to be sure.

I was thinking the same thing...I mean if he is too busy to send out a contract how long is it gonna take him to do your albums ya know...Plus you want to feel as though you are a valued customer, not someone who is put off to the side...I would call and talk to him and express to him your feelings, maybe this isn't normal of his behavior and something is just going on now.
Do a search on your photographer and see reviews

Re: Photographer problem (a little bit long, sorry)
if they made you wait that long for a contract, i would not want to work with them. it's bad business. did you check if they charged your credit card yet? next time, don't send your cc unless you see the contract. there are stipulations in the contract that you might not be aware of--- and you want them to add whatever was verbally agreed on.good luck.

Re: Photographer problem (a little bit long, sorry)
If you feel uneasy about them now, you may want to rethink using them. After so many phone calls, and weeks, the contract should have been out. How hard is it to put something in the mail?

yeah honestly if you were too busy to send them a payment and that much time had went by they would be harassing you and going crazy

You def. need that contract right away to secure the date. I would go elsewhere.. There is no excuse for that..

I would find another guy...not JUST because he didnt call you back...but if your FH already hates them...its gonna be hell to deal with these people the day OF b/c of the bad tensions....plus you dont want a bad relationship with people you are spending your whole day with...they might just ruin pictures on purpose

Re: Photographer problem (a little bit long, sorry)
I would definelty cancel. If they don't have time to send you a contrac then you don't need them. What happeneds on your wedding day?? Are they going to be to busy to show up?? I would seriously think about it and cancel it. If they had a chance to charge your credit card but not send out the contract something is wrong!Welcome New Vendors
