MADD strides for a change...1 more day to get sponsors!!

Hey everyone!!

july 10 2001 my good friend Stephen Bosco was killed by a drunk driver. He was only 20 years old. It was one of the hardest things i have ever had to deal with in my life!
This year MADD (mothers against drunk driving) is doinf a fundraiser .It is a 5K walk that will take place June 3rd to raise money for their efforts to help keep drunk drivers off the streets and keep us and our friends and families safe

wow..im dorry to hesr that...i know what you and ur family n friends are going through...i lost my 17yr old cousin to a drunk driver christmas eve 1999...i wish i could walk, but we have a wedding!
as a favor for the wedding i wanted to give a donation in my cousins name, jsut like ppl do for breast caner or other organizations, but i tried to contact them and no one replies...would you have any idea what to do?
alos , is there a way to find out about these things...like the run, im going to check out ur site, but would like to become more involved!

I'm doing a donation to MADD in memory for our friend... Try contacting MADD Long Island. You can yahoo MADD Long Island Chapter and it should come up with a site and a phone number. That should work and someone will help you- that is what I'm going to do when the time comes.

I guess on the National level it's just too hard b/c it's so large.

Thank you again for your FM and for reaching out to me in regards to this.

This May 5th (Saturday) will mark five years that our friend is gone. I can't believe it and it's so sad that I am trying not to think about it too much.

But, I did want to do something special for the five year anniversary and you FM'd me with this just in time!! Thank you so much for that.

Do you know specifically how I could form my own team for our friend (along with his family)?? I wanted to do this and of course, if I do, I will still donate what I can to your group in honor of your friend Stephen. But, since it's five years this year since we lost Kenny I wanted to walk and try to raise money...

Please let me know exactly how I can go about this whenever you can.

just go back to my page and at the top you will see the tab participate let it drop down and choose form new team then just follow the directions :) when you sign up you will automaticlly get your own page! you can customize it however you want!. Good luck

I just got this poem in my email from my mom... from some petetition MADD is doing or somethign but its really sad, makes me cry everytime:

I went to a party,
And remembered what you said.
You told me not to drink, Mom,
so I had a sprite instead.

I felt proud of myself,
The way you said I would,
that I didn't drink and drive,
though some friends said I should.

I made a healthy choice,
And your advice to me was right.
The party finally ended,
and the kids drove out of sight.

I got into my car,
Sure to get home in one piece.
I never knew what was coming, Mom,
something I expected least.

Now I
'm lying on the pavement,
And I hear the policeman say,
the kid that caused this wreck was drunk,
Mom, his voice seems far away.

My own blood's all around me,
As I try hard not to cry.
I can hear the paramedic say,
this girl is going to die.

I'm sure the guy had no idea,
While he was flying high.
Because he chose to drink and drive,
now I would have to die.

So why do people do it, Mom
Knowing that it ruins lives?
And now the pain is cutting me,
like a hundred stabbing knives.

Tell sister not to be afraid, Mom
Tell daddy to be brave.
And when I go to heaven,
put ' Mommy's Girl' on my grave.

Someone should have taught him,
That it's wrong to drink and drive.
Maybe if his parents had,
I'd still be alive.

My breath is getting shorter,
Mom I'm getting really scared
These are my final moments,
and I'm so unprepared.

I wish that you could hold me Mom,
As I lie here and die.
I wish that I could say, 'I love you, Mom!'
So I love you and good-bye .
