Capoeira wedding workout?

I saw this thing on E! today, maybe it was VH1, I dunno. Anyways, they were showing what a great workout capeira is, and it looked like SO much fun! I really need to get in shape for the wedding, and I was wondering if any of you girls every tried it or know where I can go to give it a shot! I'll prob suck at it, but it looks fun

Re: Capoeira wedding workout?

Try TurboJam DVDs with Chalene Johnson. I LOVE LOVE LOVE it and she incorporates some of that style into her work outs, as well as some kickboxing and it's FUN! Check it out... turbo jam

Re: Capoeira wedding workout?

Wow that's awesome! Thanks I'll def give that a shot, but I was really hoping for some in person lessons because:

a) I'm lazy and need to have an actual class to attend to make me go

b) I'm a spaz and need some extra help sometimes

Re: Capoeira wedding workout?

Aw ! I go to Bally's and there aren't any classes that I know of with Capiera (sp?)

Its a great workout...I would call some gyms and ask if any of their instructors incorporate that into their classes.... perhaps NYSC?

Re: Capoeira wedding workout?

My friend has been in Capoeira for about six years now. She attends a class in New Jersey, and there are plenty of classes in NYC. I'm sure if you did a search on the island, you can come up w/something.

I HIGHLY recm'd doing this under an experienced trainer, and not something off a video. You can really get hurt and cause damage to your bones, muscles, and nerves.

FYI - Capoeira is a Brazilian martial art, that includes dance 'moves.'

I will definitely ask her for you. She tried to get me into it, but it requires so much dedication that I simply couldn't 'commit' to...

Thanks SO much, I just can't seem to 'get into' doing any kind of workout without hating it, but I really think I'd like this! My job is pretty flexible so I think I can put the time in

Re: Capoeira wedding workout?

I recommend Turbo Jam videos too...even if you try it once, you never know- you could stick with it!

I just finished doing Punch Kick & Jam and Cardio Party! I need to get more of those DVDs....

ETA: if you buy the videos, get them cheaper off ebay...that's what I did!

So there's a class in Jersey Christine? Could you tell me where? Thanks!!
