How far in advance do you pack for a big trip?

In three weeks, I'm leaving on a jet plane for most of June.

But I'm spending two weeks in Italia - I'll probably be able to do some laundry at my aunt's or cousin's house but still, I'm nervous about packing enough. So I'll make lists for the next week and start packing next week. Yes, two weeks in advance.

What do you do? For shorter trips, I pack the night before/morning of, but for the big ones, I get nervous.

I travel a lot for work. I usually only pack 2 days before for a longer trip. On the shorter ones I will pack a day before.

But there are always lists of my lists when I travel for a longer period of time...

Well the most I've ever gone away for was 1 week, so I start a week before. I pull out the suitcase and throw stuff in so I don't accidentally wear it. However, for our HM I was so busy that week I had clothes set aside but didn't actually pack until the day before. I'm like you tho, I've got a list, right down to what I'm wearing for each day depending on the scheduled activities.

But wait, does this mean you'll be MIA for most of June??

Yes; Italy 6/4 through 6/18 and then I'm off again 6/22 though 6/26.
I have to do 'work' while I'm away, so I might be able to pop in after posting my column.

mentally make lists for weeks before.

actually pack - the day/night before.

I hate putting clothing aside or having a suitcase around, so I wait till the last minute to pack.

I think about what I want to bring for about 2 weeks. make a few lists...and then pack the night before, but without fail, some things ALWAYS change..and I'd end up having to repack if I did it any ealier.

i get abused for this BUT

if i am packing for a warm place and it is currently cold where i am - i have been known to pack my luggage MINUS toiletries and undies - a month in advance LOL

Regardless of the weather my suitcase is completely done at least a week before my departure - i have tried to NOT pack but then i just obsess and actually lose sleep over it and make lists. . .i am a little strange.

I ALWAYS - no matter what - pack at the last minute.

PS - I made cupcakes - with pastel icing - this weekend with my kids because fo your avatar.

So that means you're going to be away for my anniversary!! No more monthaversaries, this is the real thing. This makes me sad....
