My DIY invites with instructions!

Hi Chicas!

I posted this on the 07 board and I figured you 08ers could benefit from this also

**These measurement will produce a mid fold invitation that can fit into an A7 size envelope. **

How I made my pocket fold invites:

Step one

Take 11x17 paper and score (fold) in half, so that it’s two pieces of 8.5 x 11

(dashes mean fold) fold the paper in half so we can use the trimmer to cut the paper to measurement…if we don’t do this, the paper is too long and it won’t fit in the trimmer to cut the long way.

Now, we need to switch blades. Take the scoring blade and replace it with the cutting blade. Let’s cut the paper to the width of the pocketfold. I wanted mine to be 7 inches wide, so I made sure I aligned the left corner with the 7inch mark on the ruler provided by the trimmer and cut away.

This excess paper can be thrown away or used for scraps

Now, before we switch the blade to the scorer for the next step, let’s cut off the excess paper that we won’t need for the “pocket” of the pocketfold. I cut off about 1.25 inch off the end of the paper. (doesn’t matter which end)

Now, we switch blades to the scorer and score at the 3.5 inch line of the larger portion of your paper. (since we just cut off 1.25 inch, one side is going to be larger than the other)

We skip scoring the middle because it’s already scored for us (when we scored the paper the first time, remember?)

Our final score is going to be at the 13 inch line

This is what it’ll look like when you’re done. The numbers represent how many inches each section is between scores.

The pocket of your invites will be the last section that’s not numbered, fold it up like so…then glue

The rest is history! All you have to do now is make your border and then glue your invitation on top of it! Here’s how mine came out!

Please let me know if you need any information or if anything isn't clear! i suuck at giving instructions! hope this helped! ~Lupita

thanks! the pearlized paper is called Stardream Metallic in color Opal. I bought it at paper presentation on 18th between 5th and 6th. (it costs like a dollar a sheet!) believe me, if I did it on my own, ANYONE can do it on their own! plus you ladies have so much time! I wrote up the invites on microsoft word, totally DIY-able

eta - i was going to go to the garment district in midtown to look for rhinestone buckles to place through the ribbon instead of the monogram seal, i'll let you know which one i pick, i originally wanted it to look like the pics you posted though!

thanks! once you get the system going it's cake I'm making them little by little, so no I gues it's not too bad. the glue i bought was super strong so i didn't have to wait too long to let it dry. all in all i can make one invite in about five minutes? if that? def give it a try if you are thinking about it!
