My fmil needs to find a dress. She can't find anything she likes. Any suggestions of any good places?

Re: Any good places to shop for mother of the groom dresses

My mom really liked the selection at the Macy's in Manhasset. They were a little pricey (I think the cheapest was $500ish), but they were beautiful.

Good Luck!!!

I ended up buying my mother of the groom dress for her (don't ask why I paid - long story) at Lord & Taylor. They have a lot of beautiful dresses!

Re: Any good places to shop for mother of the groom dresses

My mother got hers at Beautiful Bride in Lynbrook and my FMIL got hers at Estelle's. Some places my mom looked included: Sugarplum, Dina's (plainview), My Daughter's Wedding in Great Neck, and there were a number of bridal shops. My FMIL just went to one place and found it.

I also recommend Estelle's in Farmingdale on Route 110. My mom looked in several places before we found out about Estelle's. They have a huge selection.

Sugar Plum in Lynbrook (i think). All you do is tell them your size and they bring the dresses right out. I have been getting all of my dresses there since my semi-formal in 8th grade!!

Re: Any good places to shop for mother of the groom dresses

My mom found her dress in Macy's Manhasset, they wanted $650 ... We went to Totally you in Bellmore ... ordered it for $450!!! Totally crazy on a Sat, but worth it if you know what you want ... they'll beat most prices by $100 - $200 avg. Give it a shot!

Good Luck!

Re: Any good places to shop for mother of the groom dresses

Take all the info - designer, style # ( although they might be diff.) & price. Ask for Dee, the owner. If she carries the line, she'll get it for you! My mom's is a Jovanni, but I didn't see it anywhere else besides Macy's. She carries the line, but didn't have that dress ... which didn't matter b/c we had already tried it on, and knew what we wanted! It came in in 2 weeks!

I was so stressed b/c I had heard that they could take up 2 6 months to come in which is rediculous! A happy ending all in all!

Good luck! Let me know how you do!

Re: Any good places to shop for mother of the groom dresses

I went wedding gown shopping last night with my mother and grandmother. At Bridal Garden in Bethpage, the mother dresses were about $20 cheaper than the wedding gowns I tried on! My mother couldn't believe that the dresses for her were running in the $500 and $600 range. Needless to say, she is going to take a look at David's Bridal.

Re: Any good places to shop for mother of the groom dresses

I'm going to Totally You next week with my mom. Do they have a great selection there? I'm glad to hear that their prices sound to be reasonable.
